View Full Version : Crying...

So, I have this thing where sometimes I get really depressed and I feel like crying, but can't. Then, recently, I was watching a movie about the history of Argentina, and when they got to the part where Evita Peron dies of cancer, I actually lost it for a little bit, and actually some tear drops fell from my eyes. Now, I'm no Peronista by any means, and I really don't understand why I got so emotional. Point is, I sort of like that feeling, it's cathartic and well, it makes me feel good to break down that wall and just let it out.

So, if there's a song, or a story, or video or something, that you think might touch that evasive place in my heart to make me lose it, I would really like to hear it. I feel like a good cry would make me feel nice, actually, like relieved that all the bullshit has finally come out. Sort of like taking a massive emotional shit, so to speak.

Then again, I seriously doubt any of you know me well enough to be able to find that button. I mean, I would have never in a million years thought I would be crying over the death of Eva Peron, but whatever, there's some weird shit going on deep inside my psyche. Some deep, weird, culturally ambiguous shit. I've also cried before when hearing "John Walker Blues" but I don't think that's gonna do it tonight.

So, post some really emo, depressing shit here, and if you can make me cry, I'll give you mad rep for whatever, some random post somewhere else. Seriously. I think I need this...and don't judge me, I'm a sensitive guy, and I like my emotions, they don't scare me too much.

Good luck!

EDIT: I'm also drinking alone, so that'll give you guys an advantage.

I don't want to make you cry.

Edit- Something that's making me feel sad right now is remembering the last minutes I spent with a friend who was killed in a car accident a year later. I went to visit and I remember saying goodbye and seeing her standing there with her arms folded (it was cold out) wearing a button up shirt. She was sad to see me go. I remember her smile. She was a gorgeous person. The one thing that haunted me and still does to an extent is remembering the pressure of her hand and arm on my back when we hugged goodbye. It was also impossible to watch a childhood video of us and to look at pictures- I tried but couldn't do it.

Although poorly written, writing that just now took my breath away twice. Does that happen to anybody else?

I mean, don't make me cry in like, WOW, that was totally shitty, it makes me want to cry. I mean, in like, a nice, emotional release kind of cry.
\
EDIT: Not like in I've been defeated, I want to cry because I've been fucked over so much. More like, oh, life is so beautiful and tragic, type cry.

Ah, I know you asked for music, but if you have spare time, I'd recommend watching Che(the film) Part II. The film is overall is extremely depressing, and I don't know how any leftist cannot be hit emotionally when they shoot Che near the end.

I remember one time I was lying in bed listening to a live performance of "Shake my Shit" by The Nightwatchman, where he really got down playing with his teeth and then killed it with this awesomely beautiful solo, and a few tears actually started streaming down my face. Was insane, I hadn't shed a tear in such a long time.

I like it. Did you pitch shift to get vocals to match the song's pitch, or just for the tempo? If it sounded off-key, I got you; if it was for the tempo, you can manipulate that without changing the pitch.

It was my first try and I didn't really know what I was doing. It was to match the tempo, but also, sort of to "screw" it. Are you familiar with the term.

I used garage band, and in that respect it's no very good. If you change the tempo too much, it can retain the pitch, but it also sounds choppy and well, just sort of odd.

Audacity is good for that kind of stuff. There's "Pitch Shift," "Tempo Shift" and "Speed Shift," the second of which is what you want. I get what you mean about screwed but 1. the vocals aren't deep enough and 2. intuitively, when I hear "screwed" I also want to hear "chopped," if that makes sense - i.e., those little DJ loops and such.

But I've never used Garage Band; a friend of mine does some really good screw/chops on Audacity, and it's pretty user-friendly, in my experience. It's not as thorough as Pro Tools, but it'll do the trick.

I'll try it out if I ever get back into doing music. I did that stuff over the summer, when I didn't have much to do. I should've probably been reading, but whatever.

And I know what you mean by chopped. That shit was invented in my state, so now you know where I'm from:lol:

This song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhT09ftI7uY) is probably my favorite music I've heard from a TV show. Sad, but slightly happy at the same time.

If you are looking for something that will bring a tear to your eye, not because it is sad, but just beautiful these (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQVeaIHWWck) two (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1-TrAvp_xs&feature=related)are it.
