Friday morning was the "christmas special" of the paper, so I had to do my route twice, in 30 cm snow. Pretty much walked most of the 40km and it ruined the rest of the day.

So, to answer your question, terrible. Although I liked the evening with only close family, as most couldn't come because of said terrible weather, but slept shortly after dinner again.

I spent Christmas Eve alone as I have done more often than not since 2003. I am spending Christmas Day (morning) alone as I have done more often than not since 2003. It's just another two days in my life absent of the sound of traffic. The morning cigarette was pleasantly surrounded by rooks and the dramatic shifting in weather as the cloud cover is breaking and the sun can be seen rising over the Butte past 82nd avenue. I decided that I'm going to clean the house this morning and listen to music. Every year I do this and it feels like I have the jump on everyone else who isn't thinking about their life on this day. I was adopted from an affair of sorts and raised in a decent middle-class family until I was eleven years old when the home broke and things got real. I believe I am 100% chance and have no reason not to fall in love with the world around me and enjoy it until I die. Why am I worrying about getting back into college and such when I can be traveling and doing things I want to do? Perhaps admittedly a more reasonable view is why am I not going back to college for writing? It's what I do and it's what I love. I am going to seize 2011 as the eleventh hour and become successful by my standards before the giantess she-wolf rages into the universe wielding her flaming scythe.

Why do so many people on this forum seem to assume that people here recognize Christmas?

Why so serious?
Yesterday I stayed with my biological family and soon I'm leaving for a christmas dinner/boozer with my family of anarchists and squatters.

Christmas just started for me. Christmas eve was uneventful, except the "friends" that never showed and never showed no love. Today, I get to see my sister who is flying in from out of town, and eat assorted empanadas that my mummy is making. :)

Pretty good. Got a book on "non-Leninist Marxism" from my proper right-wing uncle, plus what can only be described as an anarcho-hipster t-shirt from one of my other uncles (an illustration of San Francisco up in flames printed on an American Apparel t-shirt) plus some other good books + a few dvds. I've drunk quite a lot too.

Best gift is probably a book of CLR James lectures. I've got better stuff but it's the one I'm most excited about.

I expressed a legitimate concern I felt - what do you get out of making comments like that?

Concern? What concern? To answer your original post, I never assumed everyone on the forum 'recognises' Christmas (whatever that means). I made a thread for people who did get together with family and friends to share their stories of food, gifts and holidays gone wrong.

What do I get out of making comments like that? Maybe preventing you from raining on everyones parade?

What do you get out of making comments like these? Maybe derailing my thread even further?

Sucked sort of. Got up early as usual at about 6:57( Fell asleep at 1:00 but I'm used to that). Mom didn't even put stockings up so I sat in the living room watching A Christmas Story until the rest of the family woke up. Opened our presents. Nothing special really, some clothes, a cheap camera, and I forgot the rest. Went to Grandma's where I got clothes, workout equipment, a cross necklace(G-ma still doesn't get that I'm not Christian even though I've told her numerous times). Ate a fucking feast though. Drove home, talked with family here, watched porn, got on Revleft.

That was my day.

My Christmas was great. It was my first Christmas with my baby boy, so it was fun videoing him opening his presents (with some help from Wolfie haha) and it was nice to see my family as well. I drank rather a lot of wine throughout the day but never enough to get more than a little tipsy.

If you don't observe Christmas, then I suppose you'd have nothing to post in a Christmas thread, but I don't see a problem with having a thread for those who do.

Mmmmmmmmmm I lost 15 bucks playing poker with my sister's bro-in-law and his fam. Wasn't exactly the best investment I made all year.

My Christmas was interesting... got a pair of good headphones and a small 15" lcd TV that I'll probably use as a computer monitor since I don't get any reception in my dorm room. However, things got bad when my parents brought up my bisexuality... First off, my parents are glen beck fans, fundamentalist christians and extremely conservative and yeah... 1, they told me I'm going to hell, 2, they say that it's people like me who are ruining this world and 3, if I ever date another guy and go public with the relationship, I'll be kicked out of the family so yea...

Christmas Eve, I walked in on a room of my cousins having a discussion about the general state of the world: they all agreed (without any input on my part) that capitalism is a dead end, and no existing institutions are suited to the task of providing us with worthwhile lives. The all agreed that some form of communal living was their immediate goal, and that the primary problem was how to generalize the commune as a form of organization, and not become isolated. One cousin in particular, generally held up by my family as a particular "success" said that it was particularly evident, from her perspective as a biologist, that we're totally fucked, and that she was in the process of obtaining her firearms license. Some jokes were made to the effect of "Oh, you think smashing windows is going to save the world!" and for once, they were directed not at me, but at another of my cousins (who expressed a sympathy for 2010's various black bloc rioters).

Holy fucking reassuring.

Also, a very beautiful friend decided to get naked in my room at about 11AM yesterday, and, with a few brief interludes (a walk to my favourite concealed look-off over downtown, a couple of meals, and a bubblebath), remained naked in my room 'til about two hours ago.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

I got $300+ dollars and a hoody, shirt, PS3 controller and that blu-ray remote thing for it. Then my great aunt died the next day.

IT was lovely, Nic. Thanks for asking. I went up the coast to Forster, where my oma and opa live, and spent a couple of days up there.
Had a lovely christmas lunch on the water, and spent most of my time hanging out with my oma and opa, who are awesome, or reading my book - Everything is Illuminated.
A nice way to relax, and catch up on some much needed sleep.

Nic, how was yours?

Also, TC, if you don't celebrate christmas, don't respond. We don't care. I don't mean that as an insult, but genuinely, I find it unlikely that anyone is in the least bit interested, seeing as though December 25th for you was just a normal day.

And for clarities sake, my family are - without exception - atheists, and my Opa has a particular beef with the Catholic Church, and christianity generally. For us, as I imagine many others who celebrate christmas here, it's an excuse to get together. so we'll do it. And we'll call it christmas. And by fuck, we'll enjoy it.
