What's going on over there? Isn't Ireland a free nation? Then why is it people on the left refer to the Irish as an oppressed class? One can say Palestine is oppressed but Irish?:confused:

This. Plus, the Republic of Ireland is still tied strongly to Britain (see the economic situation in Europe and governments basically going bankrupt). If I'm not mistaken, the UK just bailed out the Irish government.

Are you familiar with the term 'The Troubles'? If not it was a term coined by the British so that UN peace keeping forces could not be moved in, the British fought along side the Ulster Defence Army and there are even images to prove it. The RUC was also infamous for interning people and it's one sided corruption. It was the fight between the IRA (The freedom fighters although many branches commited atrocities) and the UDA (The idiots who wanted to stay part of Britain and worshipped the Queen). This idiocy still exists today e.g. I was playing a video game and I chose Ireland as the country I was playing which led my somewhat Unionist of a brother to say "That's disrespectful to the Queen" of which I replied to "Fuck the queen she hasn't done anything for me".
