Or maybe I mean more like a Co-Op?

I'm tired of the rat race. My social and class consciousness is constantly fighting with the "go getter/entrepreneurial spirited professional" that I'm expected to be by my peers and employers.

Some people who don't understand my views just feel that I'm giving up and that I want things to be easy. No not really. I still want to work in Music and Photography. I just don't want to record jingles for a Pepsi commercial or a rap song talking about his diamond grill. The money is ok some of the time but I know I could be earning more or I'll be happy with just enough to get by as long as I was making something meaningful, timeless and progressive.

I have a vision of having some big warehouse/huge loft style building where some 10 industry professionals in film, music, digital artist and photography can all live and work as in a co-op or commune format. We will work for our clients directly as freelancers and just help each other out.. follow the principles and try to make it work.

Any ideas if this is possible and how to get started?

Sounds like you're looking for partners for a small business with special operating principles to me. You can call it a co-op if you want, but unless you're all living in the warehouse it wouldn't be a commune.

It seems like the idea is to supply what is most needed to artists in one place: space and supplies. If what you are talking about is creating a "label" of sorts for the people involved, you are basically creating a small business, only operating it on co-op principles.

I think the idea is a good one, but you'll need to get the warehouse on the cheap, and outfit it with water, gas, and electricity. The utility bill can be divided, but finding a cheap warehouse to do all this in is a tough order.

I would find some DIYers to live in the house and help with construction, plumbing, etc.
