Potential for something promising or activist ghetto re-hash?

(Ignoring the name which is obviously shit, what is the sudden obsession with putting x everywhere?)

Ive been wondering about this myself, i believe the name is supose to indicate that a sutible name will be chosen, its just temp untill the x can be replaced with a title.

It kinda looks like broad call out, no mention of class struggle but they did specify at one point that there were looking to hear from AF and Solfed amongst other class struggle groups. Could be intersting, not sure on it yet.

Would be interested to hear others thoughts as well, anyone know a little more detail? Who made the call out and their politics?

Its a large unnamed autonomous/anarchist/libertarian bunch from manchester who do a lot of direct action but are now looking at more concrete long term stuff like this
They do a lot tbh, could be wortha look

I mean it's essentially the alter-globalisation stuff with some added 'austerity' rhetoric isn't it though? PGA hallmarks, consensus decision making, emphasis on activists instead of class... I'm not totally against the whole thing, and I may end up going but to be honest the more I think about the more it seems an attempt to drag us back ten years as opposed to learning anything from that time period.

I don't know who made the callout, it would be interesting to hear.

I know some of them personally if you have any specific questions like? I'll put the replies on here

having problems getting my comments on cos im new it seems
if you have any specific questions i can get a reply off the for you

And it seems to be more of a libertarian/anarchist version of all the Right To Work/Coalition Of Reistance/NCAFC etc anti-cuts groups with a more DA slant obv
Diversity is Unity and all that

A good piece written for the 'gathering'. Worth a read even if you aren't planning on going.

As the UK moves into times of potential mass unrest, how does our movement find a way of connecting with the people around us? What is the best use of our political time, energy and experience in this new, and maybe very exciting phase? We all know that deep social change is going to take a mass movement, not just a bunch of activists – but how can we best be part of and agitate for such a movement?http://thecommune.co.uk/2011/01/11/leaflet-for-network-x-gathering-movement-beyond-actions/
