View Full Version : What are you procrastinating about?

If you don't post in this thread we'll know.

Something is wrong with the car again and I'm sitting here listening to music, paying bills, cleaning and doing everything I can to not deal with it. I work every day this week but would rather walk it in the rain I guess. I've created the excuse in my mind that I need to find a place to get it into before I can call a friend to jump it but I've done neither call friends or even look for a shop.

I also procrastinated about taking trash out this week and the evening before trash night I got up to take stuff out but then got distracted watching raccoons out back and then apparently went into my room and fell asleep. Good thing it wasn't a lot of trash like the last time this happened.

Some stuff I gotta do for school. I'm even procrastinating looking up exactly what it is.

Cleaning up my flat (it's a real mess), but thankfully I managed to wash the dishes and clean my cat's litter box.
It's much more enjoyable to visit a friend, read something unrelated to my curriculum at the uni (yeah, procrastinating about that too), go see a documentary on the activities of some crazy Spanish anarchist etc.

I also keep delaying getting a job. Just don't feel like taking up another set of responsibilities that I'll partly screw up, again

I really should be doing uni work. I just don't want to do it because my attendance this semesterhas been appalling, so all the work I have to do before my exams feels like an inconquerable mountain.

I should be revising for my January exams but instead I'm flicking between Revleft and reading documents from the first few years of the Communist International :D

I'm procrastinating about doing my readings for the next ICAN meeting. I used to read this kind of shit as a method of procrastination. Now it's just so boring. :(

Well, right now, going to bed. But more widely, there's a massive pile of college work that I should try and at least start, that I was given to do over the christmas break. Usually with this kinda thing, I put it off and put it off, because I just tell myself the holiday is long and relaxed, so I can just do it later, but then I end up condensing what should be 2 weeks of work into the Sunday evening before going back to college. I don't think, or at least hope, that I'm not alone in this sort of thing

I'm great at proporitizing and organizing over a break but once I sit down to do it I just end up listening to music and writing or watching stuff on the internet.

About going to a New Years Eve party, but I've still got time to choose whether or not to go. Apparently the RSVP is due on Xmas Eve.

Well, aside from some work that needs to be done, and studying I should be doing, and spending more time on art and music, and I really ought to meditate, and I haven't done any yoga in weeks, and I need to straighten up the place a bit, and I ought to take care of that leaky faucet in the kitchen, I can't think of a single thing.

A debate with a libertarian, and getting my partner an xmas gift. I really don't have many responsibilities right now.

I'm the same. I always draw up these brilliant timetables of when I should do stuff, but I can never stick to them. I probably just draw up timetables to procrastinate, tbh.

In advance- I've never procrastinated while at work and usually earn a spot as a 'go to' person. Outside of work I tend to put 100% effort into giving the appearance that I'm getting stuff done so that I'm guilt free (yeah, I trick myself even) and so my friends don't' worry about me- until they come over and there's six bags of trash out along the side of the house because I procrastinate about taking them down to the street on trash day- I literally think "Well there's a lot of bags, I better do it at night so my neighbors don't start talking about me' and then when night comes 'well, it's pretty dark out there and one of the bags might rip open and then I won't be able to see what I'm doing so I think I'll wait till morning.

I'm in my mid - late 20's and know how to get stuff done better than most people my age but I'm really good at finding black holes throughout the day.

Also, I still haven't gotten the car fixed and rather than calling a towing company and having them take it to a place to have it looked at I'm going to call my roommate and see if they know how to change a battery. I know that this isn't going to work because they don't have a vehicle either and we would have no way to pick up a battery. I'm going to call anyways because it means I can accept today as a failed attempt to remedy the problem and because there's a couple hockey games on tonight that I'm looking forward to watching.

Jobhunting/engaging in actual adult life.

I don't know about that. You're an adult- however you engage in life is engaging in adult life. I thought jobhunting was going to be a huge problem for me in regards to procrastination when I first got to Portland. What saved me is the fact that Oregon was/is number one in the US for unemployment so I could crank out applications for hours every day and it was the ony thing I had to do. Not very productive but my comfort level grew and I was finally ready for phone calls back after about a week. I've had three jobs in 8 months (mainly because of prior experience) and the first two jobs were undoable. I would have been fired within the month.

You're posting this from bed? Nice. Sometimes I wish I had one of those sliding-desk thingies that enables you to do that with a desktop.
