Uhm, drop your coat somewhere with some friends and make sure there's allways someone keeping an eye on the coats?

I always wear coats to clubs because I feel the cold quite badly, but I'm too cheap to pay for the cloakroom so I tend to either carry my coat around or put it on a table/in a corner close to where I'm dancing and keep an eye on it.

You should 'roll' like this chap ('Fiddy' i believe his name is):

Perhaps with a t-shirt or something underneath.

Or perhaps you could stop caring so much about "looking fly"?

I think you can find a jacket that isn't made of fifteen animals.

the worst is when pubs and shit make you pay for coat check in the winter, its shameless profiteering off of the fact that everyone has to wear jackets in winter.

People who drink in the sort of pub that would have a cloakroom deserve to pay.
EDIT: I say this as a guy who occasionally does a cloakroom shift at work.

If you're going to a club/bar that's nice enough to have a coat room, wear a nice coat.
If you're going to a shitty one that doesn't, wear a decent looking but cheap coat and hide it somewhere.
But yes, this is always annoying as fuck. Whenever I go to the bar I tend to dress warm enough so that I don't need a coat but not too warm where I'm sweating inside (i.e. a button up with a hat and gloves that I can put in my pocket, maybe a scarf if it's really cold).

On the flip side they have to pay someone to stand at the coat check the entire time to fetch coats, so I don't have much of a problem giving a couple extra bucks for a service I greatly appreciate.

I know the feeling, standing before your immense walk-in closet, too many clothes to make a choice. Life can be so cruel.

Meh. I'd rather buy a few quality items than fill a closet with crap. Two pairs of Nudies are infinitely superior to twelve pairs of Old Navy over the course of a few years.
