Not surprising, the U.S. wants everyone to think they're the best.

Read my blog.

Also, I spent a month in Cuba this past summer with my girlfriend from the US. She went to the doctor six times. All free and SUPER FAST. I think the longest we were in a clinic/hospital was for 15 minutes from the moment we stepped in.

One of her problems was that she would get yeast infections about every two to four weeks for about 4 years. She got one in Cuba, so naturally we went to the doctor. They prescribed her a few pills to put in her vagina. The pills were 1.25 pesos (0.05 dollars). She has not had a yeast infection since. No one ever even asked her for an ID, let alone nor a "secret" cash payment or anything. And she doesn't even speak Spanish.

My dad had a spur in his heel. He spent over a year going through several treatments in the US. He spent lots of money on copayments and time going to the treatments. The treatments did not work. He went to a doctor in Cuba. The treatment was done that same walk-in visit. He said it hurt like crazy for a few days. Afterwards, the spur was gone and has not returned.

Anyone that says the medical system is bad in Cuba is lying. That is the best healthcare system I have ever seen.

When medicine is practiced for use-value instead of for exchange-value, the quality increases dramatically because it is cheaper to keep people healthy instead of constantly being on treatments. In the US, the profit motive influences practitioners to keep people using treatments instead of curing the problem.
