How can I adopt a scientific approach ensure that my research is entirely free from subjectivity (as much as humanly possible)?

Impossible.

Peer Review. But that's just lots of subjective consensus.

If it is not possible to perform research in an objective manner, how is it best to perform research (I don't have a team of professional academics - nor do I claim extensive knowledge in any particular field).

No. But that doesn't mean anything goes nihilism or solipsistic methodologies of methods of methods.

What are you studying or researching?

A number of anti-positivist academic friends have started using positivist methods in their work -- mostly basic or not so basic statistical methods.

I was reading the critique of capitalist economics in Section C of the "An Anarchist FAQ" and it was criticising the non-objectivity of capitalist economics. It made me think "Yeah, I don't want to be subjective, myself". I'm not researching anything particular at the moment, just political ideology as a whole - nothing overly dogmatic or sciencey.
