Can true democracy, i.e. democratic-communism/socialism ever exist in any geopolitical area run on a republican basis based on property rights?
Is not the recognition of rights of property that which defines modern republican states such as the USA?
If so how can change come about?
Are socialist movements or groups claiming to be socialists yet working within the republican system of property and/or styling themselves as republicans therefore not upholding an anti-socialistic principle?
(Republican is meant here as in "republic" not as in US Republican Party or Irish Republicans etc).

If I understand your question correctly---
I think they are complete opposite ideas. If I have property rights--I can own and control and do what I want with that property---even to the point of making money off of it. The second I do that I own the means of production--and that certainy isn't Communism.

Thats right, however, if you get rid of propery rights even property that you have you would'nt be able to make money of it, because markets would'nt make sense in that situation.
As to Comrademan, I disagree, Capitalism and revolutoin is a push and pull situation, its not all or nothing, what we need is to pull things more and more toward democracy and hopefully get a ball rolling, part of that can be within the system.
Theres no way of working totally outside the system that will make any difference, your gonna have to work within it somewhat.
