I am reading Michael Moore's Stupid White Men and got to the bit where he is basically saying the election was rigged due to the database withdrawn people who had felonies but also withdrawn people with similar name, birth dates etc of those people who had a felony against them

Did any of you get refused and turned away from voting?

If anything, they'll just be better at deceiving the public this time. It'll have a much better illusion of a normal election this time. Of that you can be sure.

My real worry is that Shrub will put us in some kind of lunatic war, declare Marshall Law, and cease elections for 10 years. I put nothing past them anymore.

[FONT=Arial][SIZE=1]I personally prefer Dennis Kucinich. He is the only guy who is supporting the dismantling of both NAFTA AND the WTO. He is also big on human rights including, for the first time, humanity's right to clean, safe water. This guy is the best thing the proletariate has ever had in America. And if America is going to get any better, this guy needs to be elected.

Thats interesting I never heard that before and one of my parents friends was turned away from voting although it could easily have been unrelated. I'll have to ask more about what happened.

I doubt anyone here is a Black or Jewish resident of florida who has a birth date or name the same as or similar to an ex convict

So no i don't think anyone here had that problem.

Remember this was done in Florida

If more people would vote we wouldn't be in the situation we are now!

Rubbish. Voting is just another means of controlling the population - why do you think Saddam had elections under his regime? Real power does not lie with the people through elections, it lies with the capitalist class & state bureaucracy. Many fascist states have massive voter turnout.

Yeah, after that sham of an election was exposed, to vote now is just indulging them to participate in their little puppet show.

Is it worth it? NO, not when they draw the voters names out off the election registers to serve on their juries.

i was a believer of voter's rights until this last presidential election. although, i believe in certain elections voting serves it purpose. now, the big thing is polls, so my advise to everyone is don't take any on-line polls let them (status quo) figure out things some other way.

voting has lost its appeal. when you get calls from Spain, asking me what the heck is up with American elections then i say it is a dead issue. i will vote in smaller elections. i won't vote for the presidency ever again. well...unless they put G-sus on the ballot, i won't. (i may consider other minority runners too) :D

btw, i saw michael moore on a talk show a few years back where he was speaking on the l.a. riots. i was a little impressed with the guy.

Voting is heavily boasted as 'your right' to do so as a 'law-abiding citizen'...ha!

They need your votes to continue the illusion that they aren't secretly brain-washing you.

Will we ever see a 'coloured' president? Ha! Until those fat-cat white boys brainwash 'em good enuff...then maybe. Remember, truth can never be seeked by any President of America. They dwell in false-ness.

I.e. - War in Iraq. Need I say more....

Justify your actions Bush! JUSTIFY YOUR ACTIONS!

...Don't be a product...stand up....stand up.

Some of you seem very narcissistic. What makes me say that? Everyone is out to get you?

Please, I'm a leftie but this smacks of paranoia. Do you have any actual proof that these things were committed (I'm really curious actually)?

If you want Bush out of office next year, vote!
If you want him to get re-elected, don't vote!

It's actually that simple...This last election proved it...

The margin was so small that if a few thousand more people voted (democratic), Bush would not be sitting in office right now!!!

True, but I still think it is important to vote...especially next year.
I just can't handle another 4 years of Bush!
I'd rather vote for the "lesser of the two evils"

Exactly, would you rather your vote be worth something or nothing at all?

The whole election system needs to be torn down and redone (we need instant runoff voting and proportional representation) but I still think that by not voting at all you do more harm than good. No one is paying attention to people who don't vote as "a form of protest."

That's because they, literally, don't affect anything.

The thing is, those that don't vote as a "form of protest" are probably on the far left of most issues, and would NEVER vote republican

Yeah but unlike you I dont know everyone and their Location.
Thats why I asked and the chances are that someone might know or have a relative that had a problem voting due to this scam.

if so I would like to know more details, ie how did that appeal, did it work out or were they still refused.

How would a "democrat" president be any different than a "republican" one? Remember during Clinton's administration we helped kill over a million people. Or this past 2000 "election" remember Joe Liberman? He supported invading Iraq and increased spending on homeland security, lets not forget his crusade to ban music and movies he doesnt like. So if we do get rid of Bush something I highly doubt even if many get out and "vote" do you really think his replacement will be any different?

Is it 18 or 21 you have to be to vote in America?

The official age is 18 but if your arn't 18 in time for elections, your just SOL.

Yes, I honestly do. And I agree that democrats aren't much better.
Again, it's about the lesser of the two evils.

Some of the more left-wing Democrats are very different from the Republicans. This would make them somewhat better.
