What's up with the commercials for gold on Fox News?

So occasionally I end up watching Fox News, partially for the lulz and partially because I think it's important to be aware of what a good portion of the US is listening to. Every single time, I see commercials for gold or gold investment advice. What's the deal?

Many people who watch Fox News are libertarians and so they dislike the Federal Reserve. Therefore they support owning your money in gold instead of paper that has no real value. I'm sure it partly has to do with the fear of Obama stealing their hard earned money as well :p

I would suspect that it has to do with a weak economy and the possibility of depreciation of the dollar, which would mean a higher dollar price of gold.
