Hello RevLefters!
My name is hideinahole, I am 17 years old, I live in Denmark and I am currently attending the Danish equivalent of highschool, second year.
Some of my interests are history, politics, music and gaming.
From as far back as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with communism in almost any shape or form, especially the shiny propaganda posters from the Soviet Union, so I wanted to know what it was all about.
When I attended primary school, I was taught that communism was a lousy thing where everyone was paid the same lousy wage, it was controlled by an evil dictator named Stalin and that communism just didn't work at all.
I didn't feel that I had learned much from that, so I turned to my all-knowing mother for answers. She said: "Well, you know, some people were more comrades that others . . ." refering of course to the evil satanic communists from the Soviet Union.
I didn't feel I got much out of that either, 'cause I knew there was more to it, in spite of my very young age.
Then I started playing video games.
Call of Duty was one of my favorite games for a long time. A little violent gem of a game with lots of communists and plenty of shiny hammers and sickles to go around. I remember shouting "For Mother Russia!" again and again with a poor excuse of a Russian accent, and not really knowing what that meant. It just sounded kind of cool.
Once again I thought about the same questions that had gone unanswered for a few years.
A few years back I finally decided to find out what it was all about. School wasn't of much use and neither was my own all-knowing mother, so I turned to the even-more-all-knowing internets.
Finally, I stumbled upon RevLeft. I have been a leftist ever since I got into politics and it seems that the more I read stuff in here, the more leftist I get. The wealth of knowledge and ideas I have gained from every corner of this place is most appreciated!
I had been content with lurking in the forums until I read that RevLeft delete non-poster profiles from time to time. I didn't want his to happen of course, so here I am, having kicked myself in the behind and am posting my introduction.
So I guess what I am here for, is to share ideas and views with fellow RevLefters and, of course; have fun!
