Some of their avatars are libertarian socialist flags, so I'm guessing a lot of people became a fan to shout at the people who really are fans.

It's most likely for shock value. Like Sid Vicious and various other punks wereing swastikas even though they might know what it means/stands for.

1. Like/Become fan > Write comment > Unlike.
2. Make a few sockpuppets, reply to comment directly underneath using step one.
3. Change all sockpuppet account profile images to letters of the alphabet spelling out something funny/offensive.

Now, that is not the thing to do, most congressmen have no facist tendencies whats so ever. One of them is even a socialist.
