"Let China sleep, for when she wakes, she will shake the world". -
A famous quote put forward by the reactionary, yet strategic genius Napoleon Bonaparte when he spoke of China.
Discuss whether the quote is accurate, in a time when we are witnessing China as the fastest growing economy in the world, who according to Martin Jacque, author of When China Rules the World, will overtake the United States economically by 2027.

You can't really say Napoleon was reactionary though. At his time he wouldn't have been radical surely, but he still would have been considered progressive. You're taking Napoleon out of the context of his time.
He came before the proletariat even existed as a class and when the majority of France were peasants.

Yet he was reactionary in comparison to the revolution. He balanced on the class-forces.
Any way I think the quote is true but not because china will overtake the world.

Leaving aside Napeleon, from an article on our website (http://www.lrp-cofi.org/PR/chinaPR74.html):
"There is a specter haunting China....It is Chinas growing, young proletarian dragon. And let the capitalists be forewarned: when it learns to stand, it is going to shake the world."
"Indeed, particularly in this era of globalization, and given the size and strategic weight of the Chinese proletariat, the approaching theater of class struggle in China bears a world-historic significance. The wretched of the earth, the Chinese proletarian dragon, will now take the stage."

Indeed, with the greatest socialist revolution that mankind shall ever witness.

This is correct. Historically China has always been a leader in economic terms - it wasn't until the 1700s or 1800s that Europe exceeded China in its production of steel, for example.

Hopefully. I think we cannot discount the possibility of the regime shedding the last vestiges of the Mao-era and becoming completely capitalist.

It's not the regime that will lead the revolution.
