Not sure where to post this thread, sorry :D

I would like to be a good orator and help to communicate my ideas to the world.

What is the psychology, stage mastery and numerous vocal techniques, associated with the art of being an orator? Who have been the most powerful orators in history and how have they managed to influence the masses?

When I think of speakers who absolutely lit the room on fire when they spoke, I unfortunately always get reminded of this man:

Keep your speech clear, simple and confident, don't rush. If you're speaking to one person maintain eye contact if you're speaking to a large group pick out about 5 people in different points around the room and speak to them, this helps to direct the speech at different areas of the crowd and gives the impression that you are speaking to all the people around that spot which helps people connect to you.

That's all I can think of for now

oh yeah try and throw in some jokes

As much as I dislike the guy I think Tony Blair is a fantastic speaker. I'd say most if not all of his success can be attributed to his language skills.
