How can I make a red flag/long banner for a march/demonstration along the lines of a battle flag somewhere between a gonfalone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonfalon), vexillum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vexillum) and oriflamme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oriflamme)?
What rainproof material is best for outdoor lightweight carrying, vinyl or canvas?
Do I need screen-printing? If not, what kind of printing do I need?
All I can find on the subject is;
The ACTivist magazine - Banner Making 101 (http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCUQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.activistmagazine.com%2Findex. php%3Foption%3Dcontent%26task%3Dview%26id%3D59%26I temid%3D136&ei=tsX6TOP2FZSFhQeAlrWVCw&usg=AFQjCNFHQzBFk2FKr5ZGN7usedBbxTlQsw&sig2=Ur94Wcg47VtZNX9dt9f-mg)

We use canvas for our banners, see: http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/sets/72157624111789060/

You can achieve fairly good results by screenprinting or hand painting them yourself. Printed vinyl would obviously be better for wet conditions but I imagine it would be quite costly. Basic screenprinting (letters, stars, hammer and sickle, etc.) is easy enough to do and in my opinion produces better results than hand painting, but it is a more lengthy process. A guy I know from CWI uses stencils and spraypaint which is quite durable and gives a very nice even finish.

Anyone know any cheap nylon flag printers who will print my own design? Preferably in the UK.
