I think the type of person who might claim to be a pure Marxist would be an SPGB type. But of course while Leninists are Marxists, there are also Leninists who are Maoists, Hoxhaists, etc. Some might say that they are not "pure", personally I would argue otherwise but don't I always?

Serious question what if you don't distinguish Marxism and Leninism. Like I don't want to say, I'm a Leninist and basically end up saying I think that's different from Marxism.

Also, this is more a question for Trotskyists, do you not consider yourselves Leninists? And if so what is it about Leninism you disagree with? See I've always been confused by this because Trotsky did join the Bolshevik party and Bolshevism was later widely excepted as being called Marxism-Leninism. Was Trotsky not a Bolshevist after he joined the Party in 1917?

Trotskyism is considered a "branch" of Leninism. trotskyists defend and see the theory of permanent revolution an important aspect of socialism. We're usually critical of the "Stalinist" years of the soviet union and see it as the down fall of worker democracy.

So you can say that trotskyism is just the building of Lenin's thought.
