Communism has never been tried anywhere but you might be interested in just how different the mode of production was in the The Paris Commune (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Paris_Commune).

Actually the mode of production wasn't really changed in the Paris Commune at all. There were attempts to set up co-operatives but they were only to be in workshops that had been abandoned and they were going to pay compensation to the former owners. About 40 or so of these were set up but they were not that radical as they had existed in France previously and were just an extension of Proudhonism which many consider to still be a form of capitalism. There was one large factory that was seized but not for very long.
Marx called the Paris Commune "the political form at last discovered under which to work out the economical emancipation of labour" because it was just that, a political organisation (and a very beautiful one) but not an economic alteration.
In terms of communism itself I don't think anything has ever even come close.

We have an excellent example of socialism in Cuba. Well, not so great maybe. The truth is that since the fall of the Soviet Union, the capitalist powers have been able to isolate socialist countries and destroy them. At the moment, the world is a pretty hostile place for a socialist country. And of course, communism can't be achieved unless the whole world becomes socialist.

Primitive Communism has existed long ago, but that's about it

I don't like to call it communism (communism is the end result, the ideal, if you will) but the greatest ever revolutionary society and attempt at communism would be Catalonia in '36 without a doubt.
