In recent days the Baptist Church of Westboro, noted for its protests against homosexuals, Jewish people and American soldiers has announced that it would have organised a picket line at the entrance of Comic Con in San Diego. The Baptist Church has accused readers of comica and science-fiction fans of having created false idols out of the fantasy characters and has issued a monition, "The destruction of this nation is imminent- called Batman and Superman now, see if they manage to cope with all the damage they have caused with your stupid idolatry". from Asylum.

Some comic book readers have not allowed themselves to be intimidated and yesterday "welcomed" members of the Baptist Church with ironic signs upon some of which were slogans such as "Odin is God"- "God hates the Jedi" and "God hates kittens"- On Comics Alliance there is a photo gallery.

It's a good question, though...how the fuck does a magnet work? I mean...I remember drawing those lines at school, coming out the top, going round, back in the bottom, but how the hell did they get there...?!

In other news (or the original news), I would love to see somebody in the Star Trek church. "We are gathered here today, under the eyes of Captain Kirk *points to stained glass window with William Shatner's face on it* to join these two in holy matrimony"...the point being, I'm pretty sure that doesn't happy, so the Westboro mob are clearly being idiots yet again. GOD HATES SWEDEN!!! THEY LET PEOPLE BE NAKED IN FILMS IN THE 70'S AND THEY ALSO HAVE A STATE CHURCH WHICH ISN'T THE WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH!!! THAT'S WHY THERE WAS A STORM THERE THAT ONE TIME!!! That's what I heard...pretty logical argument...

Haha, I love the people who show up to protest against WBC. I have a gay friend who went to a counter protest and made out with his boyfriend in front of them just to piss them off.

The fact that they're speaking out against comic books of all things is definitely weird though.
