View Full Version : Save our education!

On 9th December, the UK parliament is voting on proposals to get rid of the cap on tuition fees, destroy Education Maintanence Allowance and slash the education budget affecting tens of thousands of schools, colleges and universities. This could mean universities can charge over £9,000 a year, the poorest students will not even be able to afford 6th form education and that the quality of our education will be seriously reduced.

We have to stop this!

So I urge everyone who can to head down (or up, or across...) to London on the 9th December and support us as we fight to save our education.

If the vote is rejected, we have won. Not only that though, we have a massive motivated force able to bring about change and fight the Tories cuts. If the vote is passed, a fresh wave of strikes, walkouts and protests will be called. WE WILL NOT LOSE!

Throughout the country there have been protests, walkouts abd occupations in response to these vicious attacks against both the working class as a whole and the youth, but we have to raise our game on the 9th.

I will do my best, not sure if there are the numbers to justify coaches down from my particular university, which is a shame - the main funding problem being that our Student Union doesn't officially support us, beyond the first NUS organised demo that occurred.

All power to the students, though!

Good luck, and power for the protests. Yeah its a pretty shitty thing, my hopes are clearly against this shit passing, i am almost sure to come in UK next year but if they start charging that much i will really need to think about it..
Keep the fight going!

You need to tell your Union that they are part of the NUS and therefore are mandated to support any student, strike, occupation or peaceful protest.

This is an article of how Aaron Porter has apologised for being spineless and he has realised that it is his duty as president to support any student struggle.
So they should be in breach of your Unions conduct code.

I have been with the University of Manchester Roscoe occupation for awhile now and our Union has decided that they must back us as a peaceful occupation. Talk to them, see what they think!
