The Stones rock - they're one of my all time favourite bands. They have so many classics: Jumpin Jack Flash, Paint it Black, You Can't Always Get What You Want, I Can't Get No Satisfaction, Brown Sugar... the list could go on forever.

100% top group, plus richards is the man.

But the question I want to know is who do you prefer

Beatles or stones?

I myself like the Beatles more.

The Stones, papa was a rolling one. They were edgier than the Beatles a better band technically and far more advanced musically....

Oh yeah the Stones rock..
I only seen them live once (in Vienna, 40 licks tour). I was too young to go to the Bridges of Babylon tour :(

Today on our national TV there's a live broadcast from Amsterdam :D
Can't wait hehe

For me, Stones are better than Beatles.

the stones are in a different league.a couple more classics are heart of stone and sympathy for the devil.

I've seen them live only once before - that was at SARStock (Sars benefit concert) a few weeks ago here in Toronto. They have a few good songs, but overall I'm not a big fan. I'm not crazy about Jagger's singing, although it's really suitable for a couple of their songs ex Sympathy for the devil...

Mick Jagger is a pretentious, conceited, worn-out-sold-out old asshole. He's the worst singer in rock history, and that doesn't stop him from joining the rest of his band in becoming a citizen of another country that won't tax the $115 million him and his band have made to become the richest rock group in all of history.

His words on being knighted: "Does this mean I'm part of the Establishment?"

Yeah, Mick, I'd very well say it does.

That said, I dig a few Stones tunes.

i dont give a damn about someone like mick jaggers personal life, unless it radically gets into the way of the bands life, which it dosent.so i dont give a fuck,i just care about the music and i know its good! :D

The Stones fucking rock!
The beatles are in a completely different league than the stones, though.
I love both, brobably the beatles more.

beat me too it. As far as I'm concerned, Mick is a horribly arrogant person and seems to manipulate others. The only observations I have made on this concerns his work with Peter Tosh, though.

I'm sure that Keith Richards is a pretty cool cat, though, he helped bring Reggae into rock libraries (which is good and bad) and seems pretty fried-up in general.

Funky, sexual, darkly soulful music made by a bunch of herbets from London - the Stones always kept their sleazy twisted R&B edge, what's Mick's attitude got to do with it, any of you met him? Then how can you judge him? Besides it takes a big ego to be a the top for so long and Mick can back it up no fear........

"Exile on main street" "Black and Blue" "Sticky fingers" piss on anything by the Beatles, who I happen to admire very much and comparisons are odious but give me the Stones anyday.... They've been known too long now for being a bunch of old codgers which takes away the gloss and they dent their rep every time they are wheeled out these days whereas the Beatles will be crystalized for ever as they were when they split, young and vital....

Some of their stuff is fantastic, such as "Paint it Black", and the one that goes, "doo-de-doo-do-dooo-do-dooo x2"

I don't know the name of it. All I can remember is a friend of mine running around his sitting room drunk one night siging the line, "doo-de-doo-do-dooo-do-dooo".

Was he singing other than the "doo doo.." line?

I'm prety sure the song you're talking about is "Miss You"

Here are the Lyrics:

I've been holding out so long
I've been sleeping all alone
Lord I miss you
I've been hanging on the phone
I've been sleeping all alone
I want to kiss you

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh

Well, I've been haunted in my sleep
You've been starring in my dreams
Lord I miss you
I've been waiting in the hall
Been waiting on your call
When the phone rings
It's just some friends of mine that say,
"Hey, what's the matter man?
We're gonna come around at twelve
With some Puerto Rican girls that are just dyin' to meet you.
We're gonna bring a case of wine
Hey, let's go mess and fool around
You know, like we used to"

Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah

Oh everybody waits so long
Oh baby why you wait so long
Won't you come on! Come on!

I've been walking in Central Park
Singing after dark
People think I'm crazy
I've been stumbling on my feet
Shuffling through the street
Asking people, "What's the matter with you boy?"

Sometimes I want to say to myself
Sometimes I say

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
I won't miss you child

I guess I'm lying to myself
It's just you and no one else
Lord I won't miss you child
You've been blotting out my mind
Fooling on my time
No, I won't miss you, baby, yeah

Lord, I miss you child

Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah

Lord, I miss you child

Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah

Lord, I miss you child

Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah
