Of course I know what filthy dubstep is, but does anybody know how that word was appropriated to describe dubstep songs?

It seems like the natural adjective to me.

I once heard that it was used, back when dubstep wasn't as fucked and hectic as it has now evolved into, to describe a type of sound with a lot of noise and grit in it. It has since been applied to the more heavier types of dubstep, and the term is now very very very overused across the internet. I like the ring of it, like Oscar the Grouch said it feels quite the natural term, but it lost its impact due to the hype around it.

in britain people often described the basslines of genres like Dubstep, Grime, Garage etc as "filthy", "disgusting", "dutty" etc
