Anyone heard this album yet? Kanye's finally gone totally insane and the results are superb. So much has already been said about this album (I mean, most publications are giving it full marks), but it deserves all the praise it gets. There are great beats and inventive samples (King Crimson, Aphex Twin, an unsurprising but stunning Gil Scott-Heron sample), but I'm blown away by how bizarre Kanye's rhymes are, and how emotionally bare many of the tracks are, to quote one critic, "there are few more human albums in hip-hop".

Great album. I'm glad he's off that 808s and Heartbreaks shit.

I wonder what King Crimson ever did to him. One hell of a payback though, never heard a more out of place sample.

"there are few more human albums in hip-hop"

haven't listened to this yet. not really a fan of kanye west, but what has this guy been listening to before making these all-encompassing statements about hip-hop, i wonder? and when he says they aren't as human, does he mean he can't relate to them? i realize he's a critic so he's just doing his job and so on, but that's just an odd comment for so many reasons...

Kanye flirts with suicide, hints at his alcoholism and drug abuse, makes weird references to his sexual flaws; other hip hop albums have obviously dealt with the themes in various different ways, but rarely to the extent that West does on MBDTF.

This album is awesome! I love it. The beats are much better, his lyrics are tighter and more mature, he has definitely improved in that area, he was never a great lyricist to begin with but he's improved by a lot with this album. Best album since Late Registration and probably the best of his career so far

what i love about the album is that it's just so complex, complicated, but at the same time overflowing and powerful. he's got everything in that album and it packs a punch. "Power" is an example of this -- along from the rhymes being great, it's the sampling and beats that really create the experience. Also, as other members have said, it's a fundamentally human album. Kanye deals with his own ego (which is the source of his controversy) and his problems. It feels like he really travels through the album.

I haven't had a chance to download and listen to the whole album, so i'll withhold my judgement for now.
