Make your own :D much more fun, try and come up with a funny slogan.

My favourite has been "Tories - putting the 'N' back into cuts."

I think it's better to design your own, because it adds humour to a very serious situation. Our local newspaper had a small section on their favourite slogans, and were openly supportive of our march in Brighton last Wednesday.

But the art student who's placard said "if not for the cuts in art education this would be an better looking placard" is genius.

Making your own is more fun. What other answer did you expect from the DIY forum? :P

If you're handy with a computer then you probably already know how to make one that way. If you fancy a more traditional effect though then draw your slogan on a small piece of paper, your graphics on another, logo on another, etc and then move them around on a sheet of A4 until you're happy with where they are. Glue them down and then take a visit to a photocopier. You can still get 4p photocopies if you hunt around, which is cheaper than printing in most places believe it or not.

Of course the other solution is to ditch the posters completly and go for paint. Do practice a bit before you do this though. There's nothing more annoying and ugly than stick letters on a wall.

With both posters and paint be careful where you put them, not only because of the chance of you getting caught, but also remember that you don't want to upset the people you're appealing to. Sides of houses (unless you have permission) are a no-no. If you've got a good poster and you've been responsible in where you've been putting it then you can even try going around the pubs and small family owned shops, etc and asking nicely if they'll put a poster up in the window, or the loos, or whatnot. Don't even bother trying with even small corporations though. They'll just spout off "company policy" and you'll have wasted your time.

Good luck! :)

ahhh placards...what joy and fun they have brought to a good ol' protest... i must admit the ones in the brighton protest wre good however i have found it better by just sticking it outside my window (which people passing can see). i've also asked my good neighbers and they were more then happy to put it on their windows.
