I just heard of this guy who calls himself a libertarian anarchist. Is he really just an anarcho-cappi? I've never heard of him

Roderick Long is a 'Left-Libertarian' in the vein of Samuel Konkin III (As opposed to syndicalism and such) who tries to sanitise Ayn Rand's work to make her appear more anti-corporate. He is indeed a 'market anarchist', although he tries to avoid the 'anarcho-capitalist' label because he's at least intelligent enough to try and dissasociate himself from the members of the latter who believe in things voluntary slavery.

he believes in the free-market no? I read a little bit about him so I don't understand what makes him "left".

He thinks current markets are exploitative, but that without government intervention in favor or business they wouldn't be so bad. "Left-libertarianism" draws a lot upon Gabriel Kolko's analysis of Progressivism -- which is pretty much summed up by this: "Progressivism was initially a movement for the political rationalization of business and industrial conditions, a movement that operated on the assumption that the general welfare of the community could be best served by satisfying the concrete needs of business. But the regulation itself was invariably controlled by leaders of the regulated industry, and directed toward ends they deemed acceptable or desirable. In part this came about because the regulatory movements were usually initiated by the dominant businesses to be regulated, but it also resulted from the nearly universal belief among political leaders in the basic justice of private property relations as they essentially existed, a belief that set the ultimate limits on the leaders' possible actions"
Also, left-libertarians accept the non-private property varieties of anarchism.
