It certainly could be the beginning. There seems to be an attack on all progressive movements and I'm not talking about Obama. One example is the recent FBI raids of peace activists.

Yeah in America there was a scare in the early twenties (after Bolshevik revolution and after several planned and executed bombins involving anarchists and communist) and one in the 50's-80's (korea/vietnam/reagan).

I don't think there's as much of a "red scare" as much as there is idiotic red-baiting. People who can't tell the difference between political ideologies beyond assigning one as "bad" for takin' away mah guns, givin' mah taxes to dem' minorities, or what ever else is scaring them right now.
