The first one I want to give to a "capitalist" friend of mine (in essence, he's a worker, but thinks capitalism is the best option for him). I would like the book to be a basic and straight forward introduction to socialism and why capitalism is destructive and exploitative. I lent him "The Socialist Alternative" by Berkowitz, but he says he gets it, it's just not too convincing. Any recommendations?

The second book is for me. I'm wondering if there's a book out there, just one book, that briefly explains different schools of thoughts of economics: the chicago school, Austrian school, Keynesian...etc. Anything like that exist out there?

Thanks.

What convinced me is the Manifesto, but then again, I was an anarchist at that point.
For yourself, there is a book called The Worldly Philosophers that I read that had Smith, Marx, Ricardo, Keynes, and was fairly unbiased which I liked.

Economics: A Very Short Introduction

I actually purchased that book but haven't started reading it yet (still working on a few other ones). I bought it because I saw on the beginner's book list. Glad to know it will answer some of my questions.
