A fantastic track, everyone has to download it from Kazaa right now! Not the Jay Z version, because JayZ is in that one, and not the Eminem version either. I mean the original, it is unbelievably cool!

I saw the guy on TV doing a stage performance in the German Music Awards, and he was dressed in traditional Sikh garb, so we can expect a bit of controversy in the Indo-Paki communities in the UK. The guy is from Coventry, but as his name and religion make obvious to South Asians, he is from Punjab or "Khalistan".

In '87 there was a massacre of Panjabi Sikhs and they have fought for an independent state called Khalistan since then, it would be interesting to hear his oppinions on that.

It's been around for ages, its the one with the Knight Rider theme isnt it? The best thing was trying to hear DJs trying to pronounce the name.

The other good bhangra song that is going around is the one from the car advert, cant remembr its name at the moment.

Thanks for the lyrics. But, I have another question. What does this guy usually sing about? Anything political?

Not really. He tends to sing about life in the Punjab, or rather Khalistan. A lot of stuff about getting ready for wedding parties or something, finding a girlfriend, that sort of thing. Not really all that serious stuff, but I am sure he has said something on the Khalistan struggle.

However, I must say that uppon looking at the Khalistan cause more closely, they are probably the least reasonable seperatist movement I have encountered. And that is really saying something, it's not like seperatist movements have a good track record for pluralism and the logic of reason.

The thing is, Punjab is landlocked in the middle of India, and they don't want to be. Their proposed solution is a Sikh state called Khalistan, which would not only encompasse all of the Punjab but would include the two provinces that lie between them and the precious access to the sea. Only one problem: there are almost NO Sikhs in these two provinces and they would be pretty damn pissed off to suddenly be part of some greater Khalistan just so the Sikhs could do a spot of fishing.

But I digress, this is a bit off topic ;)
