PFLP Set Ambush on Israeli Troops in Gaza

Militants of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, claimed, on Thursday night, to have detonated two explosive charges beneath an invading patrol of undercover Israeli troops in the northern Gaza strip, Ma'an News reported. No injuries were caused.

Israeli solders entered areas east of the cemetery in northern Gaza, where an "ambush was set" by militants, the Brigades said. Local sources confirmed that explosions were heard shortly after 10 p.m. Twelve hours after the claimed ambush attack, PFLP fighters declared they hit an Israeli military bulldozer with a rocket-propelled grenade in the northern Gaza strip.
The An-Nasser Salah Ad-Din Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, stated they observed a "direct hit" on the bulldozer, which they believed was operating inside the coastal strip, north of Beit Lahiya. The surprise attack was claimed to be in response to "Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people."
An Israeli military spokeswoman said the army was not aware of any military activity or RPG fire in the area.
Meanwhile, the PFLP has started preparation for the events marking its 43rd anniversary on December 11, 2010. In Gaza City, PFLP banners and Palestinian flags have been posted in advance of the anniversary. In Jabalya area, the leftist organization planned visits for the local families of martyrs and issued invitations to the anniversary events.
