I sure used to think so, but watch the first couple of minutes and decide for yourself. (btw I love him regardless of his homophobic shit)

I think his lyrics are weak I bought one of his albums because it was like $3 and I was not impressed at all.
Although he seems to have a bit more depth in that interview. I'd argue that culture and social systems failed the woman's father.
I wish he rapped like he talks.

He has a looot of crappy songs, he has one whole album that I really dislike but other than that I like most of it

What do you think of that one?

He probably is a misogynist, and all kinds of other things. Who cares? He's just a rapper who tells how he sees it. You'll agree on some disagree on others, but at least he doesn't sugarcoat it.

Listen to Dance With the Devil (and his explanations of the song) and tell me he's a misogynist.

No I know, trust me I know all his music, and I've heard him explain the song live, he even says in one song "I'm not a misogynist, I just like it when girls are messagin' this."

Who cares? He sucks ass. People really need to stop making threads about this relatively talentless douche.

Fucking hater.
Rev. volume 1 & 2 were cool when I first heard them, even though they get old for me. Volume 3 sucked though. The beats were too latin-ish like all reggaeton and the lyrics seemed sloppy to me. Overall though, you can't deny he has talent at what he does.

I just don't like his sexist and homophobic lyrics. Other than that he is okay to listen to.

The 3rd World I thought was pretty dope. He is hit or miss with me. I get turned off by some of his conspiracy theory songs though about NWO and Illuminati, but other than that he's cool.

His macho tough guy homophobe posturing is laughable.
"Faggot, you're less than nothing."
"Cause if you can take a fucking dick, you can take a joke"

He's not a seething homophobe or misogynist. His lyrics represent the slang of the culture. Nothing more, nothing less.
His songs aren't too bad. I don't think we should be caught up on a tiny aspect of a relatively unimportant artist.

"Cause if you can take a fucking dick, you can take a joke" is not slang, but rampant homophobia.

I've addressed this before, so I'm just going to post what I've said before:
Tech isn't chauvinistic, he's addressed this before himself. In his EARLY shit he did rap a lot of chauvinistic shit but he rapped a lot of shocking stuff IN GENERAL. The guy would say things to piss people off, he originally made his name as a battle rapper so there's a certain amount of that. If you look at his recent stuff like on The 3rd World you'll notice a conspicuous absence of that because he doesn't need to do it anymore. Tech doesn't believe that women are '*****es' any more than he actually wants to murder your whole family and crash a plane into your house (which he also says in some songs). Sometimes shit that sounds shocking is just meant to be shocking and nothing more.

He is a very intelligent man but he is at least somewhat homophobic, if he has not changed his views (which he definitely might have). I mean, "cause if you can take a fucking dick, you can take a joke" is homophobic.
I don't know if he's apologized for things like that, though. I'd like if he did because he's one of like two rappers who writes lyrics actually keep me interested.

I think it's very important to understand that his homophobic and chauvunistic lines are irrelevant according to his message. You may disagree, but the way I see it, his primary message is "fuck this system, let's turn it over into something better" and that's the message that we guys need to focus on. That some parts of his recordings are questionable is no surprise. It's like that with all music, especially hip hop.
I don't think he's irrelevant or unimportant (in terms of getting the revolutionary message out) at all even though his lyrical and technical skills are debatable. I mean, Point of no Return's got 5,5 million views. That's got to be worth something.

dance with the devil - yes?
If you actually listened to this song and figured its misogynistic simply because rape occurs during the story that he tells, I really have to laugh.
Dance With The Devil is about a guy who destroys his own life and tears his family apart in an effort to get rich and powerful, in an effort to be a thug, and how in the end, that mentality is his downfall.
Its a tragic story that illustrates the problems with a mentality that so many people have - money at any cost.
It isn't misogynistic in the least. Rape being a part of a story doesn't make it misogynistic, especially not in something with a serious story and a message behind it.

Goddamnit, can we cap the amount of Immortal Technique threads allowed every year or something?

Immortal Technique isn't a sexist, in fact Dance with the Devil shows that more than any other song out there. He doesn't glorify the rape, he in fact makes it more disgusting by suggesting that the boy raped his own mother, and that he committed suicide afterwards. In fact it criticizes the culture of violence that most other rappers praise by outlining the consequences. He doesn't condone any of the acts in the song, which is why he considers them "Dancing with the Devil".
