happy thanksgiving! Copy it and paste it!
Is it thanksgiving day today? It's my birthday and here in Greece it's St. Catherine's day. Got two grandmas named thus.

I remember a western comrade telling me that thanksgiving day is reactionary, due to the real history of early white settlers engaging in genocides of native Americans. Any opinions ?

It's reactionary.

thanksgivng is the day that acts as an excuse for working americans to make and consume outrageous amounts of food. It also serves as an excuse for deviants like me to get completely fucked.

Fuck, I knew there was something going on today. I was wondering why my family kept calling me, and all my roommates had all split town pretty much. :cursing:

Leftists should at least hold mass awareness programmes concerning this.

Os Cangaceiros
25th November 2010, 21:51
good god people. no one even gives a shit how the holiday originated anymore...most people only have a very vague idea of the original story, or none at all. It's just a day when people don't work, spend time with family and eat food/get drunk. We need more of those days, not less.

At least once it's over I won't have to read threads like this...until Christmas, that is.

Yo I dunno about you guys but I think colonialism is kind of wack and I don't drink and I don't really eat meat so I'm gonna give this 1 a miss. So check it if you wanna be a motherfuckin revolutionary you gotta limit your diet to two things:

Quotations from Chairman Mao
Mushroom soup

I'm out yo happy holidays

Yeah we should hold mass awareness campaigns so Americans become aware that white people killed Indians. Cause nobody knows that.

It's just an American harvest festival, almost everyone thinks the whole pilgrim story is complete bullshit nowadays. It's become a reason to get together with your whole family and eat a lot of good food. Worry about condemning the other hundred million things wrong with the world.

Really? I thought that it was gruel/porridge and Stalin quotes. Huh.

I agree. I don't really 'celebrate' it, just have some family over, talk & eat.

Meh, I don't like my family too much and I don't like thanksgiving food either, unless my mom is making it because she makes lasagna and it's bomb as fuck.

BTW, my gramps said the exact same thing this year as he did last year (and that's all he said to me); "So you're gay now?"

Thanksgiving is basically the celebration of genocide. I think there should be in place a memorial day for the murdered Native Americans instead.

I don't celebrate it, let's leave it at that.

Both are not the same. At least the revision of history associated with thanksgiving day needs to be challenged.

i went to a thanksgiving feast yesterday. nobody talked about pilgrims or american indians or any sort of history. we caught up on what has been going on in our lives in the last year and ate a bunch of turkey and cranberry sauce and pies and then played some basketball.

i think the ongoing slaughter of humanity for our technological needs deserves more consideration than some mythology nobody really cares about and is widely known to be nonsense.
