Anyone aware of an up-to-date version of the False Needs stuff the Frankfurt School churned out? As it's taught in schools I feel that the valid gains it makes make it unpalatable especially in these consumerist times. Considering how technology is fairly intricately linked in our social and economic circles perhaps someone could point me towards some literature worth dispersing without alienating a large number of potentially interested left leaning people by essentially insulting their intelligence for consuming?

I am not quite sure what you are looking for but a trick cyclist called oliver james has written some interesting stuff on consumerism particularly a book called Affluenza
