Eric Clapton is one of the world's greatest guitarists, and Cream is one of the greatest rock bands of all time, here's one of their good songs.
Wrapping Paper
Wrapping paper in the gutter
Moving slowly as the wind on the sea,
(Faces calling, waves moving)
In your picture on a wall of a house of old times.
(Can you hear me) Can you hear me
(Can you hear me) Wandering sadly?
In the city, feeling pretty,
Down and out and making love to you on the shore,
(Ruined buildings, faces empty)
In the picture as I gaze ahead and don't see
(That they're calling) That they're calling.
(That they're calling) Wandering sadly.
Shattered windows, stairs to nowhere.
(Hear you calling) Hear you calling
(Hear you calling) As I wander so sadly.
Wish I knew what you'd done to me;
Turned me on to things I never knew.
It's all broken, weeds are growing.
Wish I was going home to the house by the shore
(Where you loved me) Where you loved me,
(Where you loved me) Loved me so sadly.
Someday I'll get back, somehow I'll do it.
I'll arrive there and you'll be there to meet me.
(Walk together, tread the weeds down)
Kiss again in the picture on the wall
(Where I loved you) In the old house.
(Where I loved you) Loved you so well.

On the Bass and Vocals, Mr. Jack Bruce
On Drums, Mr. Ginger Baker
On Guitar and Vocals, Mr. Eric Clapton
one of the two best three-person sets in the history of music. The other, of course, being The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
I could really write leagues on Cream, but I will hold of and say that they were the fathers of psychadelic rock, and their Butterfield-Blues Band style melded Blues and Rock seamlessly. Although they had a short time together, they produced three great albums, "Disreali Gears", "Wheel of Fire", and "Fresh Cream."
With hits such as "Sunshine of Your Love," "White Room," "Badge," and "Tales of Brave Ulysses," they would revolutionize music for decades to come. In fact, funk was largely based off of the styles of Jimi Hendrix and Cream meshed together with some soul thrown in.
Cream also holds credit to the single best Live Jam ever preformed, that being their cover of seminal blues artist Robert Johnson's song "Crossroads" at the Fillmore West.
Politician
by Jack Bruce and Pete Brown
Hey, hey now baby, get into my big black car
Hey now baby, get into my big black car
I wanna just show you what my politics are.
I support the left, tho' I'm leanin'to the right
I support the left, tho' I'm leanin' to the right
But I'm just not there when, when it's coming to a fight.
Political man and I practice what I preach
Political man and I practice what I preach
But I'm just not there, when you're in my reach.
Hey now baby, get into my big black car
Hey now baby, get into my big black car
I wanna just show you what my politics are.
Hey, hey, hey
I wanna just show you what my politics are.
Tales of Brave Ulysses
by Eric Clapton
You thought the leaden winter would bring you down forever,
But you rode upon a steamer to the violence of the sun.
And the colors of the sea blind your eyes with trembling mermaids,
And you touch the distant beaches with tales of brave Ulysses:
How his naked ears were tortured by the sirens sweetly singing,
For the sparkling waves are calling you to kiss their white laced lips.
And you see a girl's brown body dancing through the turquoise,
And her footprints make you follow where the sky loves the sea.
And when your fingers find her, she drowns you in her body,
Carving deep blue ripples in the tissues of your mind.
The tiny purple fishes run laughing through your fingers,
And you want to take her with you to the hard land of the winter.
Her name is Aphrodite and she rides a crimson shell,
And you know you cannot leave her for you touched the distant sands
With tales of brave Ulysses; how his naked ears were tortured
By the sirens sweetly singing.
The tiny purple fishes run lauging through your fingers,
And you want to take her with you to the hard land of the winter.
I would highly recommend that everyone immediately go out and buy "Disreali Gears", as it is one of hte best albums ever laid down.

bu buh buh bu-buh-buh I feel free
Also good and similar to the Cream are the Butterfield Blues Band from the US, and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, of which Clapton was a member before Cream.

I LOVE CREAM MAN! They are so good. They are one of those trios that are really good. Too bad they aren't a band anymore, and Eric Clapton now is doing mushy acousitic guitar stuff...
Oh well, it was orgasmic while it lasted :D

Cream are great. My favorite song my be 'White Room', but I like the vast majority of their songs. Clapton played his best music while with with them.

In general yes, although some acoustic work gives it a run for its money

"I'm gonna buy me a bulldog, watch my baby whilst I sleep."
Definitely one of the best and most influential power trios, at a time of great influence. Ginger baker, from what I hear, was apparently a big partyer, and was rarely sober. Hence his disheveled appearance....
By the way, I recommend that you not listen to "Fresh Cream" in headphones. You'll get all the music in one ear, and in the other just the vocals i believe, it just sounds terrible.
But I highly recommend that you listen to it nonetheless. Wrapping paper was their first single.

this is the main reason I love Cream. they are an awesome blues-rock band on their own, but, like all in their genre, they pay homage to the masters. I love their Psychadelic stuff, but their Robert Johnson covers (which Clapton is still doing, like Walking Blues) and Willie Dixon songs (which must have been big in the sixties, because nobody does them anymore. but wow. Everybody from The Doors to Paul Butterfield to Cream did it back in the day, good stuff) are great. And, god love 'em, they could create some pretty fine stuff on their own. Politician and Outside Woman Blues especially, but also in some of their live numbers.
Cream, man
edit: Can't forget a cover of "Born Under a Bad Sign" rivalling Albert King's own.
