can anyone identify my avatar? :)

Aqualung

Sitting on a park bench --
eyeing ittle girls with bad intent.
Snot running down his nose --
greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes.
Drying in the cold sun --
Watching as the frilly panties run.
Feeling like a dead duck --
spitting out pieces of his broken luck.

Sun streaking cold --
an old man wandering lonely.
Taking time
the only way he knows.
Leg hurting bad,
as he bends to pick a dog-end --
he goes down to the bog
and warms his feet.

Feeling alone --
the army's up the rode
salvation à la mode and
a cup of tea.
Aqualung my friend --
don't start away uneasy
you poor old sod, you see, it's only me.
Do you still remember
December's foggy freeze --
when the ice that
clings on to your beard is
screaming agony.
And you snatch your rattling last breaths
with deep-sea-diver sounds,
and the flowers bloom like
madness in the spring.

I already did, you sick fuck. Try the "What members of Che-Lives would you like to meet"
and Aqualung is not their best song. Try Dun Ringhill. I don't know anything 'bout 'em, but my brother has every album they've ever cut.

Hey I first heard of jethro tull from my uncle but I automatically asumed it was some loser band or something cus I don't (didn't?) think my uncle listens to anything decent. If I remember correctly, I think he has a hammer& sickle flag up in his room. I never talk to him though

Didn't Jethro Tull have the album "Thick as a Brick"?

Dr. Rosenpenis

yes they did

#1 The Tull kind of does suck, they are mediocre at what the moodie blues can do better

#2 ONE must have a poor taste if he thinks "Bungle in the Jungle" is a A.)good song, B.)the best of Tull

Jethro Tull was some mate in the 1700's or some shit

Rastafari does have a point. If you want top drawer english folk-rock you should give a listen to Fairport Convention. The Sandy Denny era is the best IMO,but anything with Dave Swarbrick playing fiddle on is worth 2 Tull albums anyday.

the moody blues are good, i never heard Fairport Convention, The Sandy Denny, or Dave Swarbrick.I might give them a listen

Fairport convention absolutely rocks. Sandy Denny's best was on The Battle of Evermore, thouhg, not even a FC song. Also good on this side of the pond are The Quicksilver messenger Service and Canned Heat from the West Coast. Tull is pretty good though.

I've heard of,but never heard QMS.I'll check them out.I like Canned Heat tho'.

Wee anecdote time;

I once rode down to the south of France,to spend some time helping a friend rebuild a house he'd bought.Literally in the middle of nowhere.I got there about 8 in the evening. No one at home, and it's raining.,then they come back at 2 in the morning, wrecked and raving about the awesome Canned Heat gig they've been at 5 miles down the road at the village Salle de Fete and why didn't I come......bastards    They could've left a fookin' note

sweet. the lead singer of QMS has a pretty harsh voice, but in the end, they are on a tull-level at least.

Dave Swarbrick.
Oh my god, I've talked to him. I just realized this. He has a dirty, but funny, album out now. Or he did a few years ago, back when I was into that whole scene.

Album was called "Sailing into Walpoll's Marsh" or something like that. He's a talented fiddler at the British Jig and Reel.

British Jig and Reel.
"If you can play a fiddle"

Anyway, tull is good stuff, they have a nice folk sound and good use of the ol' pipe in their stuff. I recommend the moodies.

However, while we're on the topic of a) english bands and b)jethro tull, have any of you heard any Curved Air? 60's progressive rock. Give a listen.

By the way, the connection with jethro tull is eddie jobson, who played with curved air before joining tull, and then starting his own band Zinc.

I'm not really into the whole Avant-Garde scene of Zappa and Captain Beefheart (except "Her Eyes are a Blue Million Miles"). Some of that stuff is way over my head or plain stupid (Try "The Muffin Man" by Captain Beefheart).
Anyway, apparently the big influence on Tull were King Crimson. They sound pretty good at points. Very much like Tull.

I guess that King Crimson is more of a Psychedelic act, though.

check this out. I just found it and it looks cool:
