Though I don't refer to myself as a Leninist, though I do have a great appreciation for his political philosophy. I was recently informed that the Russian government is debating whether or not Lenin should be buried, as opposed to being kept preserved in his creepy little masoleum. At first, this sounds like a horrible idea, as it was conceived by the Russian conservative movement in order to disgrace Communism. However, I believe that it's importaant to keep in mind that Lenin himself wished not to be mummified, but he wanted to be buried like his fellow comrades. What are your thoughts on this pressing issue?

He should've been buried a long time ago.

He should've been buried a long time ago.
Indeed. Like a century ago as he wished.

Burial is such a waste of land space. He should be cremated.

Russia is a big place. I think they can handle burying on dead commie with almost as much chemicals in him as Joan Rivers. ;)

Come to think of it there may be something to be gained from mulching him.

Put his brain in a robot.

No. We should resurrect him. Otherwise, what would be the point of having him mummified in the first place?

I want a robot Lenin. Make me a robot Lenin!!

I think all his internal organs were removed.

Take his DNA and clone him please. We need a new one!

Take his DNA and clone him please. We need a new one! People are shaped as much by material circumstances as they are by genetics, arguably more so. Raising a clone of Lenin to be anything like the original Lenin would be a monumentally difficult task given that more than a century has passed since his birth and technology, the socio-political shape of the world and so many other factors have changed to the point of being almost unrecognisable. </buzzkill>

Also DNA degrades, so we'd have a 121 year old lenin.

It's almost as if the whole thing wasn't thought out at all...

I still want a Lenin robot... if his brain has deteriorated we can just pump it full of stem cells with a turkey baster right?

That reminds me of that movie The Boys From Brazil (about cloning Hitler). The same kind of themes are explored in that film.

Bury him as he had wished
or cremate him
or, personally, if you asked what I think they should do I say blast off his ashes into space.

I have qualms over if he would taste great after all that preservation fluid put into the body.

He would taste like pickled sausages maybe (but ones that have been out-of-date for a few years now).

Use his body to fertilize crops, as a good materialist.

I'm secretly hoping for a massive funeral procession in preparation for his burial. Partly because I want to see how the American media will react to the fact that the 'free' Russians often are nostalgic for the days of the USSR.

Yes, but only in accordance with social need.

No.

Instead, we need to take Stalin's remains from the Wall, restore it in wax, put it next to Lenin. Then create wax figures of Marx and Engels of a lifelike quality similar to the figures of Madame Tussaud's and have them laying in sleeping rest next to Lenin and Stalin.

But, seriously, no. Burying Lenin will only satisfy anti-communists, the Orthodox Church, the bourgeois, and the naysayers. He belongs to the people, his body is a "fuck you" to the counterrevolution that the Spark of October can still burn. :)
