What is everyone's thoughts on what was known as "Operation Valkyrie", where many Nazi officials banded together in order to first assassinate Hitler, then detain the Hitler-loyal army - the SS? After having a discussion about it, then doing my research, I've come to actually find myself glad that it didn't succeed. Despite what movies like the one Tom Cruise stars in tells us, the truth of what would've been in conclusion if Operation Valkyrie would've succeed would've been a pro-US/Nazi regime, in which was to be used to finally end the war against the Soviet Union by overthrowing it.
Thoughts?

Well I still wish the Anarchists had succeeded in their assassination attempt against Hitler.

Well if the success of this assassination would have lead to the survival of Nazi Germany then I would rather it fail. Also I guess in the grand scheme of things the premature collapse of the Soviet Union would have also been pretty bad.

Even if Hitler had been killed and the WaffenSS somehow suppressed, Nazi Germany wouldn't have survived. Tthe US insisted on the unconditional surrender of Germany and politically would have been unable to turn on the USSR while working with the former enemy. It took years of anticommunism after WWII to get the American people to finally turn on Uncle Joe.
Assuming that the plan came off perfectly, more than like it would simply have meant the Red Army washing its boots in the English Channel and the Bay of Biscay rather than the Elbe River.
