How can global hunger be combated effectively?
The method used by liberals and progressives is through charity, which is essentially a tiny fix to a large problem that needs a cure. How can massive starvation, specifically in Africa be fought effectively?

By global communist revolution.
In all honesty I don't know all the specific planning that would be necessary to provide food for starving parts of the world.

Well, yes, but I was thinking of more specific ideas and strategies.
edit, you edited your post and addressed what I said.

the socialist transformation of society is the only real and feasible way of combating world hunger. no matter how nice a capitalist is, or how "reformed" capitalism is, it still has the underlying profit motive. At some point it will give way to witholding foods and vital resources because they would be running at a loss. In India, enough wheat to feed 2 million people was left to rot because money couldn't be made off of it. That is just asinine. The soviet union was a huge exporter of food to its allies and friends.
The strategy is to make revolution. It pretty much covers the bases of all social issues

One user suggested this (http://www.revleft.com/vb/revleft-freerice-group-t141403/index.html).
But in all seriousness, we don't need revolution all over the planet per se. We just need the capitalist "core" states: (Western-)Europe, USA, Canada, Japan, China. Taking these countries will decisively tilt the balance of forces on the proletarian direction and we could work to end worldhunger right away. The rest are petty details ;)

By allowing the 3rd world to abandon producing cash crops and focusing on producing food till they have enough food production capacity.

Well there is enough food produced to feed the entire world, so resources are available, but they're not getting into the hands that need it. How many millions of tons of food is thrown away everyday?

Can anyone explain to me how food should be organized to be distributed? I understand the idea of food redistribution, but I don't understand exactly how to put it into effect or how it would function until production in low-food producing areas became sufficient.

This would be organised by the workers in farming, food processing and transportation industries, in coordination with the various communities that need food. It doesn't make sense for us to make a blue print of what they would do, most of us are not experienced in the relevant fields, and we don't know what changes will take place before the revolution, and its not like the workers in those industries are to stupid to work it our for themselves.
