Jeff buckley and Rufus Wainwright's covers of Lenard Cohen's Hallelujah.

Novellue Vague's Cover of Clash's Guns of Brixton

There others, I just can't think of them right now.

EDIT: Hendrix's All along the watchtower is much better than Dylan's imo.
And I'm not sure which one was first, but Bob Marley's I shot the Sheriff is better than Clapton's.

Jeff buckley and Rufus Wainwright's covers of Lenard Cohen's Hallelujah.

I believe you mean Fawkes's version: http://www.revleft.com/vb/hallelujah-t144986/index.html

I'm not saying I necessarily like the covers of any of these better than the originals, but they're really great covers.

Jeff buckley and Rufus Wainwright's covers of Lenard Cohen's Hallelujah.
Also, don't know if it really counts as a cover,(it's quiet different) but I slightly prefer Lou Bega's Mambo #5 (with lyrics) to Perez Prado's original (mostly) instrumental version.

Well I'm not sure I exactly prefer it, but this is very interesting (you've all heard the original and Bob doesn't have any his music on youtube anyways), so:n0aIxVZWIUkit kinda almost has a theatrical big band feel to it.

Could someone please explain what's better about Jeff Buckley's version of Halllujah? I honestly don't hear what it could be.

Cohen sings it like a dirge, Buckley almost sexualizes is. They're both great.

Edit: Also, Buckley's is just him with the only accompaniment being his guitar which serves to greatly personalize the song in a manner similar to the call and response of the blues.

Like many old folk songs, nobody knows the origin of this song. Clarence Ashley and Gwen Foster recorded the earliest known version in the earl 1930s, but there isn't an online version I can find. There are other earlier recordings of a song with a similar title, "Risin' Sun Blues", but it's a different song. Anyway, Eric Burdon's got some fucking pipes and Alan Price is an amazing organist.
