I like to get to know people. Sorry, it's an interest of mine. This is for the non-political side of things to detail the human beings behind the usernames. I will answer this as well at a later date to put myself on the spot along with everyone else. This thread might flop but at least I know the capitalists in OI will appreciate the venture.
I will add more questions if this thing becomes a hit and I will add them titled 'Questions 2nd Tier' in this post under the original questions. If you have a request for a specific 'question category' let me know via private message and what not.

hmmm so many to chose from....I used to work in central London on one of the busiest streets in the whole city I was running a bit late for work so was in a hurry. I passed this middle aged woman who was asking for help just outside my work place. I noticed that she didn't look like your average street person so I did a double take and saw that she was dressed fairly smartly I lent down while still keeping my distance and asked what was wrong she said she'd taken an overdose so I went in to the reception area of my work and asked them to call an ambulance. The receptionist replied that it would be too much paperwork if he called from the reception phone and I had to call from a pay phone so I did and then waited with her until the ambulance came. You may be wondering how this heroic tale could be considered a fuck up, well I got a verbal warning for being late :p

What's your favorite weather?
Snow. I also like rain, but only when it's light or a total downpour.
Give a brief anecdote of a time when you fucked up at work (no personal details)
I answered a phone when I worked at Wendy's. I was sort of new there and didn't really grasp the fact that at Wendy's that I am a crew member which is very different from a human being in that one has dignity and one cannot carry out an action without having someone tell you to do it.
Have you ever been mugged?
Nope.
Have you ever been arrested (I don't know if this question is allowed or appropriate but I'd like to see everyone decide)?
Nope.
Do you have a childhood crush that you still think about- details?
I had crushes aaallll the time but there's one that stands out. She was a Chinese girl who sat behind me in one of my history classes. I'm pretty sure she was an immigrant and moved here when she was very young, but I'm not sure. When I met her, she was the best student in the school, and was nice beyond reason, especially to me. She had really, really long hair and seemed to be constantly smiling.
The next year she was completely different. Her hair was cut much shorter. She never smiled. Her grades were totally shot and I don't think she even graduated with us. She always seemed irritable, had pretty awful dark rings around her eyes like she never slept and, even though she never really talked all that much, hardly ever said a word anymore.
I saw her once that year, on the first day of one of my classes. She smiled at me and I even got her to laugh, but she dropped the class that day and I hardly saw her again after that.
Do you believe in karma?
I don't know about that but I believe that if you make the world a better place, then good things are more likely to happen to you, just because good things happen more in general.
A sad memory that chokes you up- get deep?
Probably remembering that girl I had a crush on. Either that or when one of my first ex's cheated on me.
Are you close with your parents?
Sort of. My dad seems to have trouble communicating anything at all without yelling at times, and my mom panics at every little thing. For that reason I spent most of my young life in my room with the door closed or out somewhere, if they'd let me out of the house.
It's actually still like that, more or less.
But other than that they really aren't bad at all. Even though we didn't always have a lot of money, they worked and still work pretty obscene hours and so we got to live well above our means while me and my brother really never had to work up until a year ago when I had to start getting work and giving them my entire paycheck. I don't mind it though.
They aren't so bad.
Favorite song- post the first you thought of-
The Only Moment We Were Alone by Explosions In The Sky
nzj-ksNOMfU
Favorite movie- the one you could watch twice in a day-

I had a monte carlo that I liked a lot. It accelerated like nothing and I'd end up doing 90 by accident. Ended up getting totaled when I was driving home from work and a drunk driver hit me doing 60 while I was at a red light.
My manager at Wendy's got mad and hung up on me when I called him from the hospital saying I probably couldn't come in the next day.
How do you like to dress and why?
Black jeans and a button down shirt and a cap. I think I look like a slob without a collared shirt, jeans are prole as fuck, and I look an enforcer from the Irish mob with the cap on. The porkchop sideburns help
A random encounter with a stranger that made you feel good-
I'm drawing a blank here but I know there's a few I could put here!
Do/did you play a sport?
I played soccer and was alright at it. I could tackle like a motherfucker when I was 7.

Favorite sports team?
I don't really follow sports but I like Celtic in the Scottish football league just because.

Crows are all over the fucking place.
What actor/actress are you most attracted to?
Aishwarya Rai
When was the last time you were in a verbal altercation with a stranger? (give details if you want)

The biggest regret you're willing to admit to on the internet here is..? (no personal info)
Going to community college for two years then transferring to a 4 year school, I think. I just realized that I have no friends for nine months out of the year and haven't gotten a chance to experience the social aspect of college at all. And now I've got a year and a half left. I feel like I've wasted a huge amount of my life in my room.
Maybe that's not my biggest regret ever but that's the only thing I can think of now.

When was the last time you were in a verbal altercation with a stranger? (give details if you want) So the third person in an hour started honking at me in a parking lot as I'm driving and they follow me to a stop sign and pull up next to me and ask (as the other two people did) if I 'want that dent taken out..etc) This time I simply say 'no thanks' instead of explaining myself and this fuckhead inches up to block me from seeing traffic coming from my left and continues to do it each time I move up. So I roll down my window and act like I'm reconsidering the dent deal and when he does the same there's a colorful exchange. It was very one-sided and he didn't really ever have a chance because I stopped mid sentence and inched up and then went while he was distracted.

Last Thursday at work - a customer wanted to do something that was against company policy and I explained that to them but they persisted so I told them to contact the management for approval and gave them the general manager's card (the manager wasn't in). They kept trying to convince me and I told them that I thought their request made sense but that I could not change the policy for them because I would be fired. Still they kept trying to argue with me and they were asking "don't you think this policy is ridiculous" and since I had already explained that I could not change the policy, I snapped at them and said it wasn't as ridiculous as not allowing all the homeless people outside to use the public restroom, not as ridiculous as the fact that the people who work here have not seen a raise in over 3 years and have had health coverage cut and staffing reduced to the point that everyone does twice as much work as we did a few years ago.

Why should we co-operate with those who have locked us up---
The pale and dismal daylight falls
Through iron bars on prison walls.
In chains we came from far and near,
And in dark cells they hold us here.
Some of these questions are unanswerable- are you allowed to leave blanks?
showing you want to be a member of the community could go far into your release, comrade.
Plus, if this were an industrial worker's union, and you were a farmer, I don't think it would "locking you up" to not allow you in forums where the purpose was for the benefit of industrial workers... maybe "locking you out" but not up.

How do you like to dress and why? Steel-toed boots, combat trousers, t-shirts, and a fleece if it's cold. Comfortable, practical, and hard-wearing clothing for people who don't give a shit about what's fashionable.
A random encounter with a stranger that made you feel good- Having a chat with some guy fishing on the canal.
Do/did you play a sport? Never, apart from the occasional kickabout with a ball.
Favorite sports team? None.
The last insect you saw? A small fly buzzing past my monitor. I killed it.
Do you have a favorite local bird you encounter often? (not a female, I mean the winged animal) I often see magpies out of my living room window. They would be even more awesome if they could eat pigeons (AKA flying rats).
What actor/actress are you most attracted to? Jaye Davidson (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001109/) is the only person I've seen on screen who actually made my heart skip a beat.
When was the last time you were in a verbal altercation with a stranger? (give details if you want) It's really minor, but late this summer I was given a snotty comment by some old lady, apparently for reading the covers of the newspapers in the supermarket without buying one. I just chuckled and smiled at her (well, I bared my teeth at least) and wandered off without saying a word.
Your favorite time of day? Midday, when the sun is high and bright.
Do you like flying in airplanes? I've never done that, actually. I certainly would if given the opportunity.
How many different States of America have you been in? I've never visited the US.
How many different countries have you been in? England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France, and Spain (briefly).
The biggest regret you're willing to admit to on the internet here is..? (no personal info) Not studying harder in school.

Mari3L will you please cut it out? It's not you but it is certainly your tone that we object to. You are like a school teacher with an unruly class. "You should act this way, you whouldn't do this, you should do that." Enough already--with the "advice."
You are horning in on a bunch of friends shooting the breeze--you are welcome to hang out with us. But you aren't one of us--if you get my meaning. You are eith OI of you are not--and you've graduated. This is just stupid. Opposing Ideologies is, and always has been, a forum that exists very much through the (limited) magnanimity of this forum's membership. Sometimes I feel it might be worth going back to the old format of a constantly combative atmosphere with no threads like this and no reactionary chatter. It'd result in a much more transient restricted membership but we wouldn't have this strange belief that OI is somehow "your" forum.
----------
What is your age? (ballpark)
22
What's your astrological sign?
Aries. The paper usually gets the predictions hilariously wrong, which is quite an achievement given that the entire point is to have those things apply as broadly to as many people as possible.
What's your favorite junk food snack item?
Pork scratchings.
Coffee, tea or energy drink?
Tea when I'm in, coffee when I'm out and energy drinks when I'm hungover.
Do you use tobacco? How much?
I smoke hand-rolled cigarettes on a nearly daily basis. I can smoke as few as two and as many as thirty.
What's your favorite drink (non-alcoholic)?
Water, specifically my local tap water followed closely by Edinburgh tap water.
What's your favorite drink (the good stuff)?
Ale. Currently it's Bombardier or Harveys Old Ale.
What's your favorite meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner)?
Breakfast: Fry up.
Lunch: Steak & Ale Pie.
Dinner: Some kind of curry, partial to a mutton ceylon.
What's your favorite animal?
Bear? I don't really have one, but bears are pretty cool.
What's your favorite natural environment?
Somewhere warm and arboreal I think. Rainforests, jungles that kind of thing.
What was your favorite vacation?
Visiting my sister in Amsterdam last winter.
What's your favorite time of year?
Summer.
What's your favorite weather?
Warm when I'm outside. Cold and bitter when I'm inside. Either that or misty/foggy weather.
Give a brief anecdote of a time when you fucked up at work (no personal details)
I once smashed up a customer's purchase by kicking it in with my boots and hitting it with a hammer.
Have you ever been mugged?
No.
Have you ever been arrested (I don't know if this question is allowed or appropriate but I'd like to see everyone decide)?
No. I've been (incompetently) searched for drugs once and went to court over a squat I was staying in briefly.
Your favorite vacation was....?
Memory test? I did enjoy Amsterdam though. Very fun in winter.
Do you have a childhood crush that you still think about- details?
I dunno. No, unless 16/17 counts as "childhood".
Do you believe in karma?
No. I think that if it really existed the world would be far more depressing.
A sad memory that chokes you up- get deep?
Nothing important. I choke up over silly little things.
Are you close with your parents?
Not really. Makes living in their home awkward.
Favorite song- post the first you thought of-
God Module - Sections. It changes all the time though.
Favorite movie- the one you could watch twice in a day-
Withnail & I.
Your favorite car? ()
Cars aren't my thing.
How do you like to dress and why?
Jeans, t-shirt, shirt worn open over the t-shirt and a leather jacket. I just do.
A random encounter with a stranger that made you feel good-
I met a guy on a train. Not very interesting but when you're pissed and alone on a long journey home the company is quite welcome. Remember that next time a drunk hassles you on a train :p
Do/did you play a sport?
No. I can shoot hoops and have a kick about but that doesn't really count.
Favorite sports team?
Chelsea FC.
The last insect you saw?
Who cares?
Do you have a favorite local bird you encounter often? (not a female, I mean the winged animal)
The local birds here are seagulls. Who the fuck wants them around?
What actor/actress are you most attracted to?
No idea.
When was the last time you were in a verbal altercation with a stranger? (give details if you want)
A total stranger? Probably just after a beer festival. Things escalated and I ended up, as the the song would have it, "going home in a fucking ambulance."
Your favorite time of day?
Noon - early afternoon.
Do you like flying in airplanes?
I don't mind it. The beginning and end are slightly uncomfortable and I do sometimes get airsick but it's better than travelling in a coach.
How many different States of America have you been in?
1
How many different countries have you been in?
14. -/+ 2
The biggest regret you're willing to admit to on the internet here is..? (no personal info)
Not completing my education to any reasonable degree.

That's an interesting way of looking at spiders - I was thinking more along the lines of jumping spiders with their absolutely adorable large eyes:

You mentioned the good the bad and the ugly- Have you read 'The Dark Tower' series by Stephen King? It's one of my favorite series of all times (I'll explain the relation if you say no)
Haven't read them, what's the connection? I thought those books were some kind of fantasy genre...

I've been bitten by those little jumping spiders before- I think they're one of the few spiders of that size that can penetrate human skin.
The Dark Tower series is sci-fi/modern day type of series- it's heavily influenced by western movies and the main character is a gunslinger- Roland Deschain and is modeled after Clint Eastwood albeit cleverly. It's unlike any of Stephen King's other books and I highly recommend it.

What is your age? (ballpark): Ballpark? I'm not in my 30s :P
What's your astrological sign?: Capricorn (BS though)
What's your favorite junk food snack item?: Kettle chips
Coffee, tea or energy drink?: tea
Do you use tobacco? How much?: don't use it
What's your favorite drink (non-alcoholic)?: tea
What's your favorite drink (the good stuff)?: beer
What's your favorite meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner)?: mostly cereal for breakfast, some kind of gourmet sandwich for lunch, and minced meat cooked with spinach for dinner (I don't have it often, but I love it. It's a Mediterranean recipe)
What's your favorite animal?: dog I guess
What's your favorite natural environment?: great stretching grass fields
What was your favorite vacation?: going to America for three weeks as a singer
What's your favorite time of year?: October-November --> not too hot, not too cold ;)
What's your favorite weather?: a bit cloudy, cool to moderate temp., sun shining through the clouds
Give a brief anecdote of a time when you fucked up at work (no personal details): I don't talk often, and this is well known. I speak up one time with some stupid pun, awkward silence, a mate says "you haven't spoken for weeks and that's all you've got? Jeez." Not exactly a fuck up, but it was kinda funny.
Have you ever been mugged?: no
Have you ever been arrested (I don't know if this question is allowed or appropriate but I'd like to see everyone decide)?: no
Do you have a childhood crush that you still think about- details?: if you include the one I met in America where I went as a singer, yes, all the time
Do you believe in karma?: no, but it's a good principle anyway
A sad memory that chokes you up- get deep?: listening to "The Wall" over and over and over in bed, feeling worthless because I let her get away
Are you close with your parents?: my mother, yes. My father's deceased
Favorite song- post the first you thought of- : well it's not my favourite but the first I thought of was "The Well of Souls" - Candlemass, because it's been in my head for days. But my favourite is probably "Creepy Green Light" - Type O Negative or "Footprints" - Warning
Favorite movie- the one you could watch twice in a day- : Notting Hill or Forrest Gump. Both are awesome
Your favorite car? (): I've got a VW Golf, but I don't have a favourite car
How do you like to dress and why?: jeans, a t-shirt and low-top chucks. It's comfy. If I need to be a little more formal, I stick on a buttoned shirt, but I don't have any slacks and I hate shorts unless I'm running or I'm chilling at home and it's really hot, so jeans are really my only choice, and I don't have any shoes between my chucks and my old black school shoes formality-wise, so it's chucks unless I'm going to a wedding or something I dunno
A random encounter with a stranger that made you feel good-: met a French bloke after a course on gambling required for bar work (not a gambler, but we need to be able to pick them out and know what to do with them if they get serious), talked for a little while, he was nice. He did the course too, he's here for a few weeks and has been travelling around the world doing work. Made me feel good even though I couldn't understand his accent sometimes
Do/did you play a sport?: I was a swimmer and I played rugby for a bit there. I need to get back into both
Favorite sports team?: don't tend to watch sport all too much, but the Wallabies I guess
The last insect you saw?: fucking mozzie on my arm. I swear I'm being eaten alive by the devils
Do you have a favorite local bird you encounter often? (not a female, I mean the winged animal): not really, we've just got myna birds here. The occasional cockatoo, rainbow lorikeet or red galah is really nice to see though
What actor/actress are you most attracted to?: Don't watch movies all that often, can't think of one off the top of my head
When was the last time you were in a verbal altercation with a stranger? (give details if you want): never I think
Your favorite time of day?: 7-9PM
Do you like flying in airplanes?: they're fine, they're not my idea of paradise, but they're fine
How many different States of America have you been in?: three
How many different countries have you been in?: five
The biggest regret you're willing to admit to on the internet here is..? (no personal info): that girl I met when I was in America as a singer? She was awesome, and she was into me, but I kept blowing her off and eventually, it died away. I regret it every day that I didn't try to keep it going for at least those magical few weeks

Want to be a Communist--make it work and that's great--if you can't you will be called a Totaloitarian. It's all about what power you want to grab. Nothing is fair unless you personally make it that way. And then it's just you making the rules.

As a capitalist, he should appreciate a little good natured competition of ideas :thumbup1:

ME? I take the world as I find it and change it to suit my purposes. Feel free to do that for yourself.
The difference is where you say 'to suit my purposes' we say 'to suit our purposes'. ;)
And by 'our' we mean everyone on the planet except for you. So then you could probably say 'I' am not one of 'us' -
And I didn't even understand the 'bought and paid for' comment.

Which A-team character would you be? What? You mean Team America? If so, I wouldn't be a part of it.

Playstation or WII? Playstation.
Pizza or pasta? It depends on the occasion, but probably pasta

What school of art do you prefer? School? Well, I prefer literature, and within this field, I prefer modernist writings, especially ones with a social edge; expressionist poetry is dear to me, as well as certain proponents of Romanticism (Shelley!); I also adore the Latin American magical realism, especially Gabriel Garcia Marquez. He was a kind old man and always treated my brother and I well. One of my saddest memories was when his Alzheimer's took his memories of me. I'll never forget the day a few months before his death when I visited him at his house, gave him a hug and he looked down at me, eyebrow raised, and asked, "Who are you, son?"
Are you close with your parents? No. I don't get along with my mother and my relationship with my father isn't very close.
Favorite song- post the first you thought of- I can't possibly decide on one.
Favorite movie- the one you could watch twice in a day- And Now for Something Completely Different
Your favorite car? I care nothing for cars.
How do you like to dress and why? Dramatically, in tight shirts and loose shorts with knee-high leather boots, usually entirely in black. I'm also quite fond of military attire and good old fashioned trench coats.
A random encounter with a stranger that made you feel good- Random person riding past in a car leaned out the window and rose a fist in solidarity upon seeing my Communist shirt. The good mojo dissipated 45 seconds later when I got a nasty stare from a woman filling up her minivan with a big "TAKE AMERICA BACK, ILLINOIS TEA PARTY" bumper sticker. Shouted "Viva Revolucion de la Mundo", bringing the good mojo back.
Do/did you play a sport? I would, if Dodgeball were more popular. As far as unorthodox sports go, I'm on an airsoft team.
Favorite sports team? None.
The last insect you saw? A bumble bee. I like bumble bees. But fuck wasps. Assholes.
Do you have a favorite local bird you encounter often? Sparrows. Their orange-breasts indicate that things are warming up and that spring is coming.
What actor/actress are you most attracted to? None in particular. They're all too skinny.

Have you read 'The Dark Tower' series by Stephen King? It's one of my favorite series of all times (I'll explain the relation if you say no)
It's just awesome, no wonder he is the best selling novel author in the world. Volves of the Calla is my favorite book in the series. King is my favorite author, of the 20 or so of his books I've read the best one imo is perhaps Hearts in Atlantis, or the Stand. But they are all brilliant.
The new quite political one Under the Dome where the rulers of a small town represent Bush and Cheney is also interesting. I wonder if most americans know he's left of the centre politically.
His son is even called Joe Hill King. :)

I find the answers to the 'favorite time of day' question to be interesting. I don't like sunsets unless it's snowy out but I still get a bit of anxiety even then. My favorite time of day is dawn and my favorite time to write is from midnight to eight or nine in the morning. The most productive writing sessions I've had have been when I got sleep the day or 'night' before and then woke up to write- the all nighters used to be fun but they don't really produce anything of worth.
