Didn't know where to put this thread, but saw a lot of country discussions here so w/e.

What is everyone's opinion on Suu Kyi? What do we know about the military Junta?

Forgive me for not typing a wall of text.

I made a post recently about Burma. Currently there is a lot of fighting around the border, the Junta have closed one of the border passes into Thailand, and one of the renegade forces of about 1000 or more have taken over the border town on the Burmese side. The election was unfortunately scattered with tons of corruption and rigging. In fact the reason the renegades took the town was because of government forces threatening citizens to vote by force likely for the party that won, the usdp.

Find the documentary Burma VJ (You can watch it all on YouTube, but obviously in segments.)

As far as the Military Junta, they're just like Chile was in the the 70s till the late 80s. With their Military Junta.

Burma hasn't seen a civilian government since the 1950s and has one of the longest-running military governments in the world. I hope that all the individual groups fighting for their self-determination will win over the hearts and minds of the Burmese people and end this junta!
