Ha Joon Chang's book Bad Samaritans is good.

Look for the chapter on state owned enterprises.

A French State owned company could own private subsidiaries in the UK and in turn use that revenue to fund social programs in France.

It's all money to bankers. There is no economic/State riff in the rest of the world.

Secondly, it should be plain as day that defense contractors revenue is usually 90% from the Federal Government. Lockheed Martin was in major hot water for nearly taking up 20% of the military budget.

Chomsky spells it out plain as day that when a politician says that it would unwise to raise corporate taxes to fund social programs in X city because it will hurt jobs, what he is really saying is that if you raise taxes on the rich, then they will ship their jobs elsewhere and decimate your town, i.e. they rub the show, not you, so you better give them what they want.
