The great desperation of the enemy army ... will be to find something to receive his blows. Instead he will find a gelatinous mass, in movement, impenetrable, that retreats and never presents a solid front, though it inflicts wounds from every side.

The pictures are from the film Lawrence of Arabia. T.E. Lawrence was a great guerrilla fighter. He wrote a book about his experiences.

Was he? Was he really? Wasn't he more of an imperialist tool?
Omar Mokhtar (http://www.cyberlabs.com.my/lion/), "Lion of the Desert", now, that's a guerrilla.

I think T.E. Lawrence desired genuine independence for the Arabs only that his superiors restricted his activities. In the end he was disillusioned with the way things were going. Thanks for the Omar Mokhtar link. Very interesting.

On the subject of T.E.Lawrence,regardless of his imperialist exploits,I did like his idea for promoting road safety by adding a 6 inch spike to the steering wheel of all vehicles. It never happened, and never will, but the image this conjures in my mind still makes me chuckle  .
As for guerrilla warfare in Iraq. What did they expect?
