It's about time someone on the American 'left' like Bill Maher noticed that there is a huge difference between corporate backed right wing and angry citizens on the left.
I think Maher is coming around a bit. He is still pretty smug toward the country but I think that at least he is recognizing that unions are not in the same level as major corporations and that the media keeps using the euphemism of "big labor" as an neutralizing phrase.

I can't stand Maher from what I've seen of him. But he may finally be seeing the sense which he was lacking. Although, I wouldn't be to quick to call him a part of the left, if i remember correctly, he used to be a libertarian and he also pulled out all the cliches in an episode of his TV show on which there was a communist.

I doubt it...He's kind of like Rachel Maddow, where 1 out every 50 or so comments he makes end up being some-what agreeable.

I liked Bill Maher before I became a Marxist but I still never liked his old Libertarian shit.
I have hope in him.

So do I. I hope he gets alzheimer's disease....but then again, if it wasn't him up on the national stage being a mouthpiece for democrats another talking head would take his place.
A bigger problem is centralized MEDIA (centralized in the hands of concentrated wealth). the entire economic/political debate is framed by the bourgeoisie. Bill Mahr wouldn't be on national TV without their stamp of approval.

That's it?
I was expecting something similar to the John Stewart threads ...

A good point. Maher like most other liberals are owned by the corporations. We might agree with him occasionally, but he is not, nor do I think he will be on our side. He is not radical, and barely progressive. He's just another elitist liberal who likes to whine about what the conservatives do, without actually positing anything progressive. The guy is an advocate for mixed capitalism. So no I don't give him a free pass and someone with the anti-worker attitude exhibited by Maher cannot be trusted by the left.

Keith Olberman (who was apparently just suspended) also made a good criticism of Stewart's rally. Pretty much the same points.

When Democrat propagandists feel some competition they try to undercut it in order to make their apologetic propaganda more credible?
About as silly as the christian televangelists who tell people not to sin then go out and get prostitutes.

Normally I would agree entirely- I think that Stewart went overboard and he's getting called out on it. I think it's a little bit more than the typical liberal progressive charity competition .
