I'm new here and I just wanted to tell everyone a little about me. I live in California, I'm 17, I'm an Anarcho-Communist and a vegan. I love to smoke cannabis and dream about a brighter future.

Welcome. Are you politically active as well, even if it is just about talking to your collegues or class mates about politics? Or does it just stick at dreaming?

Yeah I have many debates with friends and teachers as well as my father and brother (and sometimes with my conservative catholic grandma :p). By dream I mean wish for a magical peaceful overthrow of every Capitalist government in the world.

I see and agree with the desire for a peaceful overthrow of the old order and the establishment of the new. But don't you think there will be a backlash by the capitalist powers nationally and internationally? The Russian revolution for example went peaceful by itself, but a few months later the imperialist orders sent in many armies to support the tsarist "whites" to try and topple a new regime that posed a direct threat to theirs.

But even on a "micro" scale, we are often attacked and harrassed by the police for demonstrating or striking peacefully. Don't you think we ought to defend ourselves against such agression?

Self defense is different than violence in my mind, but on a personal level, not in defense of a state. And I'm being more idealistic than realistic I realize it's impossible to have no causalities in a revolution.

Hmm, I wonder why you think that. :p Well a voluntary group of battle ready soldiers is ideal in my mind. Attack from other Capitalist/Imperialist nations is obviously inevitable and it's better to be prepared then to get massacred.

Yeah, I got him into Anarchist Communism, but he took it further by reading a bunch of books and then he introduced me to Rev Left.
