Individual Countries/Areas

I am new here and relatively new to seriously educating myself about the history of the left. I was wondering if I could get a basic summary of individual countries/areas and their relation to the left, positive or negative. Thank you very much! :)

I think the question is way too general. Are you interested in particular times or places?

I am most interested in South and Central America and the Caribbean (besides Cuba, which I have studied) in more recent history (19th/20th century). If you have any suggestions about a better place to start please let me know.
