Italys Silvio Berlusconi: Its Better To Like Beautiful Young Girls Than To Be Gay

As you all (hopefully) make your way to the polling booth today, you may find yourself disappointed with the crop of American politicians in front of you. However, to let you know that it could be worse (or at the very least, theres jerks on every shore), let us present to you the following quote from Italys Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. The 74-year-old has gotten in trouble recently after allegedly paying a 17-year-old girl 7,000 after she attended parties at his house. Responding to calls for his resignation, Berlusconi pointed out with a shrug, well, at least hes not gay. Touche, sir. Touche.
From Irelands RT News:

[Berlusconi] refused to apologise for his fondness for young women and denied doing anything improper, after the case of the girl known as Ruby filled Italian newspapers last week and opposition lawmakers called for him to resign.
As always, I work without interruption and if occasionally I happen to look a beautiful girl in the face, its better to like beautiful girls than to be gay, he told a meeting at a motorcycle industry show in Milan.
You should be completely reassured about the government and about the fact that its a government that still has a majority that intends to govern until the end of its term, he said.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg gives the quote the slightly classier translation, Its better to be passionate about beautiful women than gay men. Either way, very few American politicians would be dumb enough to say something that stupid. At least no one at that high a level. SouhUSA! USA! USA!

I paid a minor to...attend my party, but hey, at least I'm not gay??
No, seriously, this guy believes he can get away with anything. And what are Italian citizens doing to convince him otherwise?

So being a sugar daddy or pedophile is better than being a homosexual?

He's a disgusting prick, but hardly a paedophile. 17 year olds may legally be minors in certain jurisidictions, but biologically they are typically closer to adults than children. Let's not fall into the same hysterics that the right-wing media (not known for its progressive stance on youth sexuality) likes to work itself up to.

Are there any docs about other media moguls like Rupert Murdoch and Carlos Slim?

I had a look at documentaries on media in general, you might want to have a flick through some of these, although they are not specifically about Murdoch or anyone else: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Documentary_films_about_the_media

It reminds me of that comment by Alessandra Mussolini, a neo-fascist in the style of her grandfather. In defense of her own politics she said "It's better to be a fascist than a faggot". This was in reference I think to the transgender member of the Communist Refoundation Party, Vladimir Luxuria.

Italy's far right is very homophobic and dangerous...I also read about a mayor of a Northern Italy town, a member of the Lega Nord, who said he was planning to use his power to execute gays.

So I'm not surprised that Berlusconi says something homophobic. At least he's not as extreme as some of the parties in his coalition. He still seems like a totalitarian figure, the kind of man who would love to be a dictator.

Well what can one expect from a man who was a member of the infamous P2 lodge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda_Due) (which had heavy links to Operation Gladio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Gladio) and other shadowy para-state organs during the Italian 'years of lead'):
