Is populism a working class ideology? It is basically against elites ruling over the people. Also was the Social Revolutionary party(Which appeared after the provisional government in Russia was formed) a better party than the Bolsheviks in Russia ?

Isn't Communism the true extention or Populism? In the US at least Pupulism has a bad rap because the word connotates bad mob rule--but you have to ask who writes those definitions? Maybe it's people that want to do the ruling themselves?

In Germany "populism" usually is used as a derogatory term, in the sense of statements/laws/reforms/promises appealing to the general populace but with debatable character, for example "right populism".

Overall, I think populism is troubled, and I wouldn't call communism populist. Populism is what the majority wants at any given moment, and therefore is inherently system-conform.

Populism isn't an ideology, it usually used in the context of people that use public discontent to get political support, sometimes its used to discribe grass roots movements.

Populism is'nt an ideology.
