Hey, just thought i'd post a thread because i'm not sure if anyone here is a reenactor or is looking to get into it. One problem alot of us leftist reenactors is that we are faced with the sudden judgement that all reenactors are gun loving, probably tory brutes. I my self reenact both Red Army 1941-1945 and International Brigades and have come across alot of socialists/anarchists in our ranks who are simply just military enthusiasts. On the otherside, a minority of those reenactors who portray SS or Wehrmacht are actual fascists who we often clash with in the beer tent.
What are peoples view on reenacting here?
and is anyone looking to start reenacting?

While I did much earlier reeanctment (Viking 600AD-1200AD), my main issue with this was the gravitiation towards 'elite' units, which in the context of my reeactment group, was the weathly nobles, I felt this was a certain white washing of history, ignoring the fact that the majority of warriors in this period were semi-professional pesants, not towering brutes kitted out head-to-toe in mail wielding beautifully crafted weapons. Hence why I left.

The political makeup of my group was massively varied, with communists, anarchists, nationalists and tories.
