Assuming that a revolutionary situation would arose in the United States tomorrow, what would the leading Left Vanguard organization take as it's slogan (what have you) and it's first concrete action, in your opinion?
Now, the Bolsheviks were brilliant for their political astuteness in taking as their two main early promises withdrawal from WWI and land reform. Obviously, the core of their ideology lay in the strengthening of the proletarian movement in general and building towards socialism, but they understood the importance of bringing to the table immediate and concrete "change".
Personally I think the two most important thing for a revolutionary vanguard to seize upon in a period of serious political tumult now or in the next 5-10 years would be, of course, an anti-war stance that is uncompromising, and immediate cessation of all foreclosures and evictions, also I think renting in general, in favor of a pragmatic program to move homeless people, renters, etc, into vacant homes. I think this is our "land reform" and could be the flashpoint for any early political victories. Debt-based economics are making evictions and foreclosures more and more common and it's coming to a head.
What other issues do you think could be immediately important to emphasize? As much as I am for LGBT rights etc, I think these are more matters of principle to be enforced once power is solidified, what we need is something that is as widely applicable and utterly necessary (in an immediate sense) as possible.
My apologies for any incoherence that may be found in this post. I am moderately drunk and high, and can't be bothered to proof read.
